River line Uniworld has lined up another well-known actress to christen one of its ships: Catherine Deneuve.
The Academy Award-nominated star of Belle du Jour and Indochine will serve as godmother for the company's 159-passenger S.S. Catherine in a ceremony scheduled for March 27 in Lyon, France.
Uniworld says the S.S. Catherine was named for the French actress. It'll operate on France's Rhône and Saône rivers, a growing hotspot for cruising.
In addition to appearing in more than 100 films, Deneuve is known as having been the muse for famed French designer Yves Saint Laurent and was the face of Chanel No. 5, L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton, MAC Cosmetics and other brands.
Deneuve is the second well-known actress in a year to christen a Uniworld ship. Actress Andi MacDowell served as godmother for Uniworld's last new vessel, the Queen Isabel, in a March 2013 ceremony in Portugal.
The S.S. Catherine will sail Uniworld's seven-night Burgundy & Provence itinerary, which includes visits to Lyon, Avignon and several other destinations in southern France. The itinerary and another Uniworld sailing on the Seine River in northern France can be combined into a 14-night Grand France trip.
