Cruise lines with ships departing from the Port of Miami on Monday June 25 are advising passengers to give themselves more time than normal to get there, because of the Miami Heat's victory parade, scheduled for 11 a.m.
The Heat, the National Basketball Association franchise owned by Micky Arison, also the chairman of Carnival Corp., won the NBA championship title on Thursday night in Miami.
The team's victory parade route will end at the American Airlines Arena, which is adjacent to the streets that provide access to the Port of Miami. PortMiami said that traffic delays are expected from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m Monday.
Royal Caribbean International has advised passengers who are scheduled to depart on the Majesty of the Seas to "provide ample time to arrive at the port for boarding. The ship's 4:30 p.m. departure will not be delayed due to traffic."
Norwegian Cruise Line also alerted passengers booked on the Norwegian Sky's 5 p.m. departure to "provide ample time" for arrival, and that the ship would not be delayed due to traffic.
Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Imagination and Carnival Destiny also are to sail from the port at 4 p.m. Carnival advised passengers on both ships to "allow plenty of time to reach the port."
