Alaska was beautiful: great weather even though it was late in the season; lots of calving on the glaciers. We chose this cruise because it included Glacier Bay, and we were not disappointed. It was great.
We loved the thick, comfy new beds on the Veendam as well as the great dining room service. HAL extras like hot chocolate and hot pea soup served on deck on glacier days was very nice. Our cabin was spacious with lots of storage space. We were a little concerned about some lax maintenance on the ship: 3 of the 8 elevators were out of order all week, and we never saw any efforts being made to fix them; the laundry room on our floor was also out of order all week. We were given one shampoo which ran out on the third day and was never replaced. On lobster night, 1/2 a tail was served (that's even what the menu said, "1/2 lobster tail.") We had been on the Veendam before when everything was well-maintained, so we were a little surprised when things were in poor repair or corners were cut...
But overall, it was a good cruise (are there bad cruises???), and we would willingly go again...
