COMPLETE REVIEW

This is a new ship for us but not a new itinerary. My DH and I used this as a weekend getaway for some rest and a little fun.

I must say that Enchantment of the Seas is a very nice, well kept ship. Her public spaces are large and we never had a problem with seating, especially at the pool. We really enjoyed having an adult only pool area, something we haven't had on short cruises from Port Canaveral before.

Embarkation was a breeze as usual and we were on the ship in no time at all. Headed straight to the Windjammer for lunch and then headed to the adult pool area to wait for our rooms to open at 1:30. We booked an oceanview guarantee and were assigned 2520. We were lucky enough to have one of the new bathrooms. The ship came from dry dock several months ago and new bathrooms were installed in some cabins. The cabin was larger then Monarch and we had ample drawer and closet space. Our only complaint was the mattress. It was bowed and lumpy. Our cabin steward got us a few egg crates for the mattress and it was fine. He told us many mattresses were replaced in dry dock but they sure missed this one. Our cabin steward was excellent!

I don't generally review food as it's subjective but we found it similar to all the RCI ships. I have to say that we are used to excellent service on Royal Caribbean's ships but the Enchantment is lacking in the Dining department. The service in the Windjammer was awful. Usually someone comes and offers to get you a drink or a cup of coffee, not once the entire weekend did anyone ask us. Dirty plates usually are picked up immediately, this was not the case. In general the service in the Windjammer was poor. The Dining Room was a bit better, our waiter tried hard since his assistant is new to the job. Our head waiter was non-existent.

We don't go to shows in general and skip much of the other festivities, we really went to rest which is what we did. We did go to the casino each night and enjoyed our time there. No we didn't win but the staff there was very nice.

We would return to the Enchantment anytime. We are hopeful they will make corrections to the staff in the buffet area. All is all a good value for a weekend cruise.

Good review. I always wonder about the headwaiters who don't visit the tables, or only visit once. We had a guy on Emerald Princess who came by our table every night to discuss a custom menu with Sharon, who is vegan. He was the best we've seen.

We have had excellent head waiters like that Kevin. My DIL is Vegetarian and our head waiter on Freedom was very attentive to her needs. I don't eat beef so some nights I need to order special meals which is why this was a disappointment to me.

Rose, thanks for your review. We had a similar experience with spotty beverage service in the buffet on the Ocean Princess last summer. After the first couple of days, we gave up and went to the fountain area to fetch our own. Regardless, it sounds like you had a relaxing time on the Enchantment!

Thanks for sharing, Rose! I'm glad you had a nice cruise, even with the few issues that you encountered. Haven't been on RCI yet, so am taking in all this information.

Enchantment is a class larger than the Majesty. And in 2005, as I recall, it was sent to the shipyard in Europe, cut in half and a section added to lenghten the ship. I sailed on it on the first itinerary back here in the US, a New England/Canada one.

Yes she is larger. We sailed on the Enchantment pre-stretch years ago from Ft. Lauderdale. Ship is a great size and class but the crew left a bit to be desired this trip. I always hope for improvement
