In accordance with maritime tradition, Disney Cruise Line Captain Thord Haugen and his shipboard officers hosted local port officials and community leaders aboard the 2,700-passenger Disney Wonder for a plaque exchange ceremony.
“The officers and crew members of the Disney Wonder are excited to be in the Lone Star state for a season of cruises to ports of call in The Bahamas and Caribbean,” said Disney Cruise Line Captain Haugen. “Sailing from the Port of Galveston gives families the opportunity to experience everything they love about Disney Cruise Line in a port close to home.”
Disney Cruise Line will sail from Galveston on a variety of 4- and 7-night itineraries to the Caribbean and Bahamas. Some cruises will visit Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. The Disney Wonder will also sail special holiday cruises for guests looking to celebrate the season on the high seas.
The Disney Wonder will continue sailing from Galveston until January 2014, when the ship will reposition to Miami until it returns to Alaska in summer 2014.
