Luxury line Crystal Cruises is hoping to tap the frenzy for HBO's Game of Thrones with a new Thrones-focused shore excursion.
The half-day Enter the Game of Thrones tour will be offered on sailings to the show's key filming location, Northern Ireland, and will include visits to several production locations near Belfast. Participants will step into mythical medieval life with a chance to shoot arrows, take photographs with show costumes and learn how real, centuries-old castles and towers are transformed into sets for the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
From Belfast, tourgoers will travel to the shores of Strangford Lough, location of 18th century Castle Ward and estate, which includes Forest Park and Audley's Castle. The 820-acre landscape and medieval buildings served as pivotal sites for the show's first and second seasons.
The excursion will be available on a seven-night British Isles cruise kicking off Aug. 24 on the Crystal Symphony and a 14-night Ireland, Iceland and New England voyage starting Sept. 5 on the Crystal Serenity.
The tour costs $289 per person.
