P&O Cruises Australia is promoting what the line says is the "world's largest adventure park at sea," onboard the Pacific Jewel. Among the most unusual of the 20 shipboard activities of P&O Edge are a Segway obstacle course and laser tag.
The 1,950-passenger ship also has been equipped with a ropes course, high-rope swings, a rock-climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, a zip line and a tall ladder that takes passengers to the top of the ship's bow, among other attractions.
During a press event in Sydney, Canadian stuntwoman Janene Carleton, who has doubled for Angelina Jolie in movies, tried out some of the more challenging activities.
On the P&O Edge website, the cruise line rates the activities in terms of the adrenaline rush they provide — a 262-foot zip line across the top deck gets a top rush rating of 5; a "Titanic Moment," where you stretch your arms off the ship's bow (while wearing a harness), is rated a 4.
Prices for the activities range from $19 AUD to $59 AUD (or about $18 to $55) with multiactivity package options available.
The P&O Edge activities will roll out on the Pacific Pearl and Pacific Dawn next year, the line said.
