The second of four new ships on order for Royal Caribbean will be based in the UK when it debuts in 2015.
Royal Caribbean today announced the 4,180-passenger Anthem of the Seas will sail to the Mediterranean out of Southampton, England after its spring christening. It'll then head to Fort Lauderdale for the winter.
"Our business has a long history with the port of Southampton, and over the last ten years we have annually increased the number of cruise opportunities from the port," Royal Caribbean CEO Adam Goldstein says in a statement accompanying the announcement. "We are now eyeing more growth with the introduction of Anthem of the Seas to the UK market."
Under construction at a shipyard in Germany, Anthem of the Seas is a sister to Royal Caribbean's soon-to-debut Quantum of the Seas, which sets sail in November.
The two ships are part of a new "Quantum" class at the line that also includes a third, as-yet-unnamed vessel on order for 2016.
Royal Caribbean also has a third ship on order for its four-year-old Oasis Class that'll arrive in 2016. The first two vessels in the series -- Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas -- are the world's biggest cruise ships (click through the carousel below for a look inside Oasis of the Seas).
