Royal Caribbean International's upcoming ship, the Quantum of the Seas, is the most highly anticipated ship of 2014, according to Cruise Holidays' travel agents.
The travel agency franchise group Cruise Holidays said that in a survey asking 133 of its members which ship they were most anticipating in 2014, the "overwhelming response" was the Quantum of the Seas.
The 4,180-passenger ship is the first in a new class of vessel for Royal Caribbean that will boast several groundbreaking features, including the North Star, a giant mechanical arm that will transport passengers high above the vessel in a glass capsule.
Although it does not debut until November 2014, Cruise Holidays said that the Quantum's bookings "have been very impressive" already, and account for nearly 20% of all Cruise Holidays cruise bookings looking into 2015, the ship's first full year in service.
The Quantum will homeport in Bayonne, New Jersey, and offer 7-12 night cruises to the Bahamas, the Eastern Caribbean and the Southern Caribbean beginning in late 2014.
Next year will also see the debut of Norwegian Cruise Line's 4,028-passenger Norwegian Getaway, Princess Cruises' 3,560-passenger Regal Princess, Pearl Seas Cruises' 210-passenger Pearl Mist, and Costa Cruises' 3,700-passenger Costa Diadema, the line's largest ship ever.
