  4. Great Phote from Cunard:Two Icons, One Grand Entrance
  5. Frankly, this is just a free add online for the Travelocity booking engine. We have people paying to be on our Travel Agents and Discounted Travel links here at Cruise Crazies. Every vendor has ship information on it.
  6. The general rule is 1 hour before sailing.
  7. Probably Dawn Beach. The Dutch side beaches have far less topless sunbathers than the French side.
  8. I'm a snorkeling fan. I have snorkeled in Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan, Grand Cayman, Curacao, St Thomas, St John, Barbados, Antigua, Martinique, Dominica, Isle de Sainte, Anguilla, Peter Island, Key West, Gulf of Siam, Hawaii, Puerta Vallarta, Zuijuatenajo, Acapulco, and perhaps 1 or 2 I have overlooked in this list. I bring my own mask, fins and snorkel.
  9. I also did a ship inspection of Victory last summer and it is spotless. All the new bedding is installed, and it is in excellent condition. I wouldn't hesitate to book anyone on it.
  10. Maybe room service coffee about 8:30, and off to breakfast buffet about 10. Lunch at the buffet about 1:30. Late seating dinner, and show (which I often sleep through) and after theatre drink and dance somewhere, and off to bed.
  11. I agree, rent a car. We have done it there many times. The rental booths are right at the pier. One excursion we did do that I enjoyed was http://www.stmaarten-shoretrips.com/lordsheffield/ There were about 8 passengers and we sailed and barbequed and then stopped to snorkel. Great time.

  13. You may want to read my review here on the site of the Oceania Nautica cruise we did last August. Ours included Barcelona, Marseilles, Monte Carlo, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Taormina, Amalfi, Valleta, and Athens. We spent two days in Barcelona, staying at the Hotel Royal on the Ramblas. In Marseilles. we rode city buses and shopped. In Monte Carlo we caught the train to Nice and the beach there, but next time I'd suggest Villefrance instead. Florence and Rome you know. I could have spent more time in Florence. Beautiful city. And the Tuscan countryside. Amalfi is a quaint town built on the side of the mountain. Lots of shops, an old church, an sidewalk cafes. Some people take an excursion to Positano from there. Valleta is hilly, but you can walk much of it. We saw the churches, about 1 every block, and viewed a film of the history of Malta in a museum overlooking the harbor. Our cruise was in August, and while Spain, France and Monte Carlo were moderate temperatures, it got very hot for the days in Rome, Florence, Amalfi, Taormina, Valletta and Athens. The locals had all gone to the countryside and the cities were not crowded. Taorminia is reachable from Messina. A resort town built up on the mountainside, with an old Roman theatre, lots of shops and restaurants, and the view of Mt Etna.

  15. I loved them. Thanks. And I see the International pier still has a way to go in Cozumel.
  16. We are doing this cruise on Destiny in February. In St Thomas I've never taken an excursion. One time I took a taxi to Coki Beach. Most times I take a taxi to Red Hook and a 20 minute ferry to St John's. Then a taxi to Cinnamon Bay or Trunk Bay, in the National Park. Then taxi back to port, take the ferry and shop by the pier. In Dominica, where I've only been once and took a snorkeling excursion, I'm not sure yet. In Barbados you can do excursions to Harrison's cave, rum plants, catamoran snorkel, pirate ships, etc. Or you can take a bus to the best snorkeling beach on the island, Folkestone Park. You can take a taxi to the Beach Club for the day. No excursions needed. We did the Jolly Roger Excursion one time. In St Lucia you should see the Twin Petons, volcanic mounts, and do some beach and snorkel time. Excursions would be fine. In Antigua I would suggest just hiring a car/taxi, negotiating, at the pier and spend the day touring the island. Less expensive than shipboard excursions and you will see more. I did do a catamaran snorkel excursion there once. In other words, plan one big thing and do it. Whether by excursion or on your own. Don't try to do it all at once. It is vacation after all. Don't wear yourself out.
  17. Both Princess and Holland America offer a single share program. You pay a single rate and they try to match you with a person of the same sex and approximate age. If they don't match you, you get the room to yourself at the single price, not a single supplement (added charge) price. I have a male on a HAL transatlantic and a single female on a HAL Mexican Riviera booked that way. He has done it several times.
  18. I am continually asked by clients about motion on the ship and where to be. The easiest way to explain it is: hold your hand up in front of you with fingers extended and thumb toward you. Now waggle your hand from the wrist. The finger tips are the top of the ship, and the wrist is the bottom of the ship. Notice, the higher you are, the more arc of motion you go through. Down low (by the wrist) there is minimal motion. The least motion on the ship is midships and low decks. Perhaps that is one reason the midship cabins cost more than the cabins forward and aft. In my experience there is more motion forward than aft. And if they don't believe me after all that.....I just say "trust me", I spent 20 years in the Navy riding grey navy ships and can vouch from experience.
  19. When we applied at the post office we only had to show the documents. They did not keep them. The children under 16 only get a 5 year passport, I think because their facial features change so much.
  20. Carnival 10 and 1 booked, plus 1 in Dec pending NCL 4 and 1 booked RCCL 4 Princess 5 and 1 booked Celebrity 2 HAL 3 Imperial Majesty 1 Oceania 1 Star Clipper 1
  21. Creme Brule and anything with lamb. Basically I really enjoy the kinds of dishes I like but don't fix at home. The amazing first course/appetizers.
  22. I used Thrifty last April from the airport in Orlando to the Coco Beach office. They shuttle to the pier in Pt Canaveral. On our return, their shuttle was in the parking lot and took us the Coco Beach office. We were in and out in a few minutes.
  23. The most well known Russian agency is Red October. You still need a visa, but in Russia, you must have a letter of invitation to even apply for a visa. That is where the agency comes in, they provide the letter.
