  1. A number of times we booked inside guarantees and were upgraded to outside. Once on RCL and at least once on Carnival
  2. Rabbit has been served in the military for years as an alternative meat. Mmm, good. However, I have never seen it on a Carnival menu in 7 Carnival cruises.
  3. St Maarten from Philipsburg beach looking toward the piers?
  4. Kauai? Darn, I know I've seen this picture before.
  5. We have had lobster on Carnival even on 1 and 2 night cruises to nowhere.
  6. Wow, that was fast! Yes, Blue Lagoon in the Bahamas. That is JohnG alright, but it is JohnG Jr, my oldest son, a 39 yr old furloughed United airlines pilot, who still flies for the Naval Reserve. He visited there during a 5 day April Carnival Miracle cruise from Jacksonville.
  7. When we were there about 18 months ago, we took a taxi to the public beach to the right of Atlantis, I think called Cabbage Beach. When we were done there, we walked to Atlantis, used the restrooms to change, and then walked through the Casino, the Aquarium, the gift shop and restaurants, all for free. You must pay to see the Digs or be a resident to use the pool or beach where the waterslide is.

  9. And this is where we head when we first board, after dropping our things in the cabin and before going to the Lido. We check our actual table and location in the dining room and if it isn't right, we ask for the change right then. As we are most often traveling as just the two of us, we especially want a table for two to enjoy our trip with each other. When we take the kids, teenagers, we request a table for 4. I can enjoy other people at breakfast or lunch and not be bound to dine with them again, but I want our dinner together, by ourselves.
  10. This is the beach at The Boathouse, in Georgetown, Barbados. Congrats Lisa, even with Jason's generous hint.
  11. Nobody's has been here? That is me walking into the water at sunset.
  12. I even bought a white dinner jacket before the last cruise in Dec so I have more choice on 7, 10 and 14 day cruises. Black tux, white dinner jacket, black vest and champaign colored vest. Can mix and match. Great excuses to take longer cruises.
  13. I just returned from there Monday. The cruise port is in old Freeport. It is nearer the International Bazaar but not a beach. It would require a taxi to Lucaya. The beach at Lucaya is in front of the Sheraton and the Westin, but public access is available to the beach at the edge of the Sheraton. The facilities are not available to non hotel guests, but would be pretty hard to enforce. I understand the taxi ride to Port Lucaya, across the street from these two hotels, is about $10 (for 2). We had paid transfers from the airport to the Sheraton, so I am not sure, but read that. We rented a car for three days.
  14. Had a great time at Our Lucaya in Grand Bahama. My wife won us a four day stay plus airfare at Sheraton Our Lucaya for making the most mortgage referrals in the past year at her bank. Airfare and hotel for four days. It was fabulous. I snorkeled and saw a huge sting ray and many baracuda.
  15. It is La Galleon Beach on French St Martin, just down the road beyond the Butterfly Farm. Locals use it, not so much tourists. It does have a little restaurant, water sports rentals, and the chairs. Tops optional....it IS the French side. Sorry, I was on a land cruise to Grand Bahama for the last 4 days and couldn't reply. Congrats iriscruiser!
  16. I sent you about 4 more today and you should have 3 of my earlier ones, too.
  17. From my Maasdam review from Feb 2004 sailing: On “Dutch Night†we opted for a reservation in the Pinnacle Grill, the featured specialty restaurant, with a $20 per person surcharge ($10 on sailing day). We had a reservation for 8:30pm and arrived a few minutes early. Forty minutes after we were seated they finally took our order. By then the wine steward, who had held the wine tasting the first day at sea, had opened the wine I had brought to dinner and helped himself to a large glass without asking instead of the tasting cup. Butter arrived 20 minutes after the bread. While water from a pitcher was adequate in the regular dining room, the Pinnacle poured bottled water, at extra charge, without asking. An hour and 20 minutes later, still only on the second course, I tried to order another bottle of wine. They were out of 15 wines. I went back to the cabin and brought another of my own. The presentation was fine and the food was good, but no better than the dining room food. There were huge time gaps between courses, and they tried to explain it away that every order was prepared from scratch to order and takes time. The restaurant was less than half full by that time and that excuse doesn’t fly. Gracefully, they said they wouldn’t charge the corkage fee for my wine because of the slow service. Others have been pleased. I think the quality of the Pinnacle Grill varies by ship.
  18. Skipper got it. It is Grand Case Beach in French St. Martin. In those houses are loads of little hotels and gourmet restaurants.
  19. Unpack the carryon's. Go directly to the dining room to check on table assignment and change it if it is not right. Then to the Lido for lunch. Walk around and get the layout in mind. Back to the cabin to unpack the checked luggage and prepare for life boat drill. After the drill, sailaway on deck with a drink.
  20. Is Rick's the place I have seen on E! on Wild On in Jamaica, where patrons jump from the cliff into the water....after having imbibed at Rick's?
  21. Kelly, Our Sun Princess cruise this Dec: Dec 12 Depart Fort Lauderdale/Port Everglades 13th Princess Princess Cay 9-4 14th at sea 15th St Thomas 7-6 16th St Martin 7-6 17th St Kitts 7-3 18th Barbados 8-5 19th Antigua 9-6 20th and 21st at sea 22nd Arrive FLL We are in a balcony cabin, cat BD. The cost for two of us Cruise/Port/Taxes is $2279.28. We will also receive a $150 shipboard credit, 2 bottles wine and 2 photo vouchers! That is like paying about $106 pp per day. I use a rule of thumb of $100 pp per day for a benchmark of a decent price. Princess can be okay on price if you pick the right time....like this mid Dec cruise.
  22. We cruise every December because our anniversary is Dec 17, but we have to be home a couple days before Christmas. For example, this year we sail Dec 12 for a 10 day, returning 12/22.
  23. Thanks, Dan! I had lost that link when I changed to me new Dell in January.
