  1. What is strange about the story is the note at the bottom of it: © 2011. All stories are works of satire and parody.
  2. Constellation is also the first of the that class of ship that received the Solstice class upgrades (Solsticized).
  3. Jason, Half Moon Cay was the Holland America private island. But HAL is owned by Carnival Corp. They started opening it up to the other Carnival owned lines, except Princess, which has its own, Princess Cay. We had probably our best of 15 Carnival cruises on the Liberty. Great review, Jason.
  4. http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/travelsmart/2011/02/15/cruisecrazies-aims-to-be-one-stop-shop-for-cruisers/ Jason posted the announcement on Facebook.
  5. I was only on the ship for its inaugural sailing, and of course service was great then. Freedom has now been around long enough that Freedom and Liberty are scheduled for upgrading, including adding a nursery. If you thought Freedom was big, you should see Oasis and Allure! The ships are a destination. It doesn't need to go anywhere! Our next one wil be aboard the 690 passenger Azamara Journey. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the review!
  6. Judson, I've always used the debit card for the Euro withdrawals from ATM's in Europe. By the way, I found that Bank of America had alliances with certain banks in Europe and didn't charge a transaction fee when using it at their branches. Check with the bank that issued you the debit card and find out if they have any corresponding European banks you can look for.
  7. Great photos! Brings back memories! Thanks, Ed.
  8. We've done 58 cruises and have 4 more booked. My wife loves the sun in the Caribbean, and the cruises are not so hectic. Airfare to Florida is far less expensive than to the more exotic destinations. However, having said that, we have cruised in Tahiti, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada/New England, the Mediterranean twice, the Baltic & Russia, and a French River Cruise. I'd like to go to Tahiti again....loved it and it didn't seem hectic, just beautiful. Since I spent so much time in Asia and a year in Vietnam as an advisor, I don't have the urge to go to Asia. I've been to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and the Phillipines while in the Navy. Australia and New Zealand would be nice, but again the airfare is more expensive than the cruise! Even airfare to Europe next year has increased about $300 per person over this year.
  9. Remember it is not the travel agencies that ever provided the luggage tags. They were provided by the cruise line and sent to you by the travel agent. However, when most cruise lines decided to go to electronic documents and same money, they also added paper luggage tags to the electronic documents. However, NCL, RCCL, Celebrity and Azamara will still send you real luggage tags if you are preregistered on line. With NCL they come automatically, and with RCCL, etc, you have to request them online when you do your on-line pre-registration.
  10. I have a review of my sailing on MSC Orchestra here in the review at www.cruisecrazies.com/community/JohnG/listings/368/ Costa, owned by Carnival Corp, has ships in the Caribbean that are twins to the Conquest class of Carnival ships in design, but the decor is Italian. Like MSC, food favors Italian fare. Both lines have announcements in several languages. There are more Europeans on Costa and MSC in the Caribbean than other lines, and there is more smoking. Costa still has a Toga Party night.
  11. Finally got a chance to write my review of our July 11 sailing on the Uniworld River Royale on the Provence and Burgundy itinerary, up the Rhone and Saone Rivers in France, through the heart of the French wine country. It is posted here now. After 56 ocean cruises, this was our first river crusie....and we loved it. Just 125 people, wonderful food and service, dramatic and historic scenery in the country, villages, and cities. Learned a lot more about French wines from the Cote du Rhone and Burgundy, including Chateauneuf de Pape. And ended it with 2 days in Paris! The food! The wine! We had a great time!
  12. Of 53 cruises to date, 15 have been on Carnival and we've had some of our best meals and shows aboard Carnival. Royal has nice physical plants on their ships, but hardly ever serves lobster. Just was on a 12 day cruise to the Baltic on Royal and didn't have lobster offered even once. Carnival has it at least one night, even on 2 night cruises to nowhere. But I've never had a bad cruise on any line. Gotta admit, the Diamond benefits on Royal are superb.

  14. Late, so we don't have to rush back to the ship on port days just to be ready for dinner. Come back, relax, cocktail, a little pre-dinner dancing, and then dinner.

  16. Just got off the Jewel of the Seas in the Baltic/Russia from Harwich and they were implementing them. For Diamond and Diamond Plus they had a bar open from 5-8:30pm with complimentary beer, champagne, and wine, and 25% off mixed drinks. Also a private section in dining room for Diamond/Diamond Plus and complimentary specialty coffees.
  17. I believe the ship was the former Norwegian Majesty, transferred to Louis Cruises last year. Louis is the same company that lost the Louis Diamond when it sunk in Santorini with the loss of 2 people.
