  15. Eph, we became aware of the crews hours a few years ago from HAL employees. Being in the manufacturing business I know all about long 12 to 15 hour work days, however we always tried to give our employees and ourselves at least 1 day off a week, even during our busy time. We knew when the job was finished we would return to our normal 40 hour work week. I can't imagine working in the public 7 days a week for a minimum of 3 months and keep a smile on my face! Can you tell us which cruise lines and ships you were on?
  16. Hello and welcome to CruiseCrazies! Ten years ago we could have offered many reasons to cruise on HAL versus other cruises lines. Now ten years later and they, like most other cruise lines, have eliminated some of their uniqueness. We still like to cruise on HAL mainly because we like to cruise. Depending on the ships they still have great service. One thing we really like that you would not be able to do on your first cruise is the dining room is open on boarding day to past HAL cruisers. We like the idea of live dance music before and after diner. Also, they have happy hour for bar drinks. Smoking has been eliminated in all the venues, which is not the case with their parent, Carnival. They still have afternoon tea in the dining room and they still provide cold wet towels for returning passengers in the Caribbean ports. Just about every thing else is the same as other cruise lines. Some say the clientele is older, which is okay by us since we are also older! We cruised Alaska on the Statendam in 2001 and after 10:00 pm there was not many souls out and about. The casino was quiet!
  17. Bill, you should encourage her to join this site and take part in the conversation and maybe post a review of her cruise.
  18. Jackie, congrats on your booking and welcome to CruiseCrazies!
  19. Jason, very well said! Probably not what the media wanted to hear.
  20. Shari, if you win the lottery will you take us along? Our longest cruise has been a B2B of 6 days and 7 days on the Ryndam. We have a B2B booked on the Serenade for 14 days total.
