  1. Jan, very good tips! Another thing we do is turning our thermostat up or down a few notches depending on the season. It doesn't hurt to save a few bucks on our heating or cooling bills while our house is empty.
  2. Welcome aboard, Dawnya! There is a lot of info available from very knowledgeable CruiseCrazies. We are happy to have you aboard. Just click this link: http://www.cruisecrazies.com/cruising/upcoming-member-cruises to add your Paradise cruise and we all will help you count down to your cruise.
  3. Welcome aboard HeatherMcNally. It looks like you will be doing some cruising from New Orleans. It's a great port to cruise from. We cruised from there 6 times now.
  4. Welcome aboard John and Robin! Upgrades are simple--the more you post the quicker you get upgraded. Click for more info: http://www.cruisecrazies.com/forums/topic/12-your-cruisecrazies-cabin-accommodations/
  5. We meet a lady on the Zaandam with the nickname Mama Lou who lived on the ship in an inside cabin. About 8 years later we were on the Ryndam and she had moved to that ship. We talked to her one evening, however we don't think she remembered us.
  6. Swath, congrats on booking 3 cruises for 2015! Our early Jan 2015 cruise is in the past now and we have not looked yet for a winter 2015 cruise. We were hoping for better options out of NOLA so at this point we will probably end up cruising out of one of the Florida ports. We may not take a Fall cruise this year. Thinking about a trip to Chicago in Sept to catch a game or two at Wrigley with the Cubs versus our Cardinals.
  7. We've now completed cruises 29 and 30 and have the whole of 2015 to figure out our next one. The B2B cruises were both good and bad. The good was the first week and the bad was the second week as we both came down with head and chest colds, which we are still trying to recover from. We missed a lot of activities and also lost our appetites. The drive home was very long and tiresome due to our illnesses. It was so nice to sleep in our own bed Saturday night. We had a great time in New Orleans before our cruises and the New Year celebration aboard ship was great. Also we had a great time in Key West including a stock up at Kino Sandals. In Nassau we took a taxi to Atlantis and enjoyed our day there. The Serenade was basically the same with just a few changes from our Feb cruise. Our dining experience was not as good as we were moved to 5 different tables to accommodate large families and groups aboard. We finally settled in with a great couple who endured the table moves with us. We were able to do some dancing in the evening before we became ill. The new band on board played music to our liking. One of the changes was RCI pushing the drink packages and no longer publishing individual drink prices in their bar menus. When we ordered a drink we had to ask the servers the drink prices. It seems that some want to make sure they to get their money's worth. A case in point is when we tried to help a very large man off the floor when he fell getting out of his chair. As it turned out he didn't really fall as he just passed out from excessive drinking! I took me and 2 others to get him into a wheelchair so security could haul him back to his stateroom! The second week with stops in Jamaica, Caymans and Cozumel is best not talked about and should be forgotten. We were not the only sickies as we could hear the constant coughing and hacking the entire week. We are now closing the book on that cruise!
  8. Thanks for the Bon Voyages! We are packed and ready to go!
  9. We are, however not on the Dream. We will be on the Serenade of the Seas.
  10. Carole and John, so glad you two have all that behind you and are ready to cruise! A cruise does wonders for the soul!
  11. First of all Happy 40th anniversary! A med cruise sounds like the perfect celebration. Thanks for sharing your cruise with us!
  12. It would be so nice if they did! With Carnival, Princess and HAL we would be at 20 cruises. With RCI and Celebrity we would be at 7 cruises.
  13. John, we were surprised they did not have the Guy burgers.
  14. Not going on that cruise, however we've been on the ship twice and had very good cruises. Congrats on your booking and your 30th anniversary!
  15. After the 'Blackjack' band played 'Secret Agent Man' they said they had a prize for the first person who knew who did the original song. Apparently I was the only one who knew it was Johnny Rivers!
