Hi dogladyjw, This is a really helpful site isn't it? I got my countdown clock from this site: http://www.geocities.com/quietman01970/ Quietman is a member of Cruise Critics Board and he was kind enough to set up an area on his website for people to calculate their countdown clocks. Just go to the countdown clock section and use the HTML portion. I don't know how much longer the clock will work because it depends on Escati. They may be discontinuing the countdown clock business. However, it does work for now.

Great idea Lisa, I hope there is something else on those days.

Since you've only given us 30 days, I think I'd take the Dawn Princess from Los Angeles, sail to Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; cross the Panama Canal; Cartagena, Columbia; Oranjestad, Aruba; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; and end up in Fort Everglades. Then I'd wait for anything going one way to New York. Maybe there would be a ship repositioning from Fort Everglades to the Bahamas or Bermuda to New York. I'd like to avoid flying again. Actually, my dream cruise would take many more days, to get me around the world. B)

Thanks Dan. The information certainly is helpful. I called Carnival and the sales rep kept telling me "We have the right to change an itinerary." I told him that Carnival had that right but it's not as though I was able to board the ship and then have the itinerary changed. They certainly should have notified the T.A.'s much sooner since many passengers try to get the best airfares by booking early. You are really encouraging me to seek some sought of compensation for my inconvenience and expense.

Hi Everybody, Thanks again. Your ideas are great. I'm going to take some time to reconsider my options. The purpose of my taking this cruise was to add a number of visited islands in the Southern Caribbean and enjoy the cruise experience. The good new is I may change my air arrangements with Spirit Airlines for a $75 fee. I'm going to check some Carnival departures stateside. The other tragedy regarding this event is that I had some travel vouchers from U.S. Airways that I could not use for Puerto Rico on the dates of the cruise. Had I known this fact only two weeks ago, I could have used the U.S. Airways vouchers for Florida or New Orleans. I guess that's the risk we take when planning so far in advance. Jason and Dan, I will check with Carnival to find out what happened and see what they are willing to do. Also, thanks GottaCruz, Jason, Dan, PEB, Shari2, Lisa63, cruising2day, DaCruzNut, and aliceunderground for your advice and concern. I think I'm getting over it. It's just very inconvenient. I'll keep you posted. It will all work out in the end.

Thank you for your consolation folks. I've become a cruise person, so the land option is out of the question. I've been a landlubber too long. I ache for the open seas. I'm trying not to panic. I'm working with Spirit Airlines to see if I can fly somewhere else that a ship will be sailing from that has an interesting itinerary. I also found out that the purchased insurance does not cover airfare if the cruiseline cancels and airfare was not purchased through them. Wish me luck.

It would be interesting to know the positions of the crew members who became ill. Were they diningroom crew, cooks, hotel staff, or deck crew? What could be causing these outbreaks? Are passengers coming on the ship with illnesses?

I just got a notice from my travel agent that Carnival has cancelled the sailing of the Carnival Jubilee on August 21, 2004. I just booked my flight for Puerto Rico. This makes the cancellation very inconvenient. I am really disappointed. I have one of those inexpensive non-refundable flights booked for two. What can I do about my flight?
