so my question is how far out did they let people know? They let me know about 3 months before the cruise, but I had already purchased my airline tickets.

frostyboy64, I hate to say it, but it happened to me with the Carnival Jubilee. I had a dream itinerary for the southern Caribbean before I got my notice that the ship was being chartered. It would have been an opportunity to visit some of the other islands that the Carnival Destiny did not sail to. It was also just after I had booked my non-refundable airline tickets to Puerto Rico. I was fuming. Since then, because there are no laws protecting the cruiser if something like that happens, I have changed my mindset to only expect to board the ship and sail whereever she decides to go. I'm in it for the cruise experience rather then concentrating on ports. However, sometimes those changes by the cruise line can cause quite an expense.

I would be hot! I think it's unfair for the cruiselines to take a charter after passengers took the time to make travel arrangements by booking air and hotel on the other end. I really think the consumer laws regarding bumbing have to change so that the consumber is protected a little more. The Spencers might have spent thousands of dollars on airline tickets that are not refundable. I hope their insurance kicked in.

SCIROCCO, Welcome back! I'm sorry your trip ended so soon, but glad to have you back. You were really missed. Now hit the boards because it seems everybody else is leaving to go on cruises.

btate, I've never seen flying fish, whales or dolphins on my cruises. I'm looking forward to writing that I've seen them. I did see stingrays from a bi-plane ride in Key West though, but that doesn't really count on this board.
