  1. We take as many private excursions as we can. They are usually cheaper and with a smaller group of people. I rarely take excursions with the cruiseline unless we are in a port for a short time.
  2. We have them but probably won't get them when they charge for them. We have had the current ones for several years. We really carry them for emergency purposes now. Like running out of casino money. LOL
  3. Welcome aboard louman! I'm a former Long Islander transplanted in Florida
  4. I'm not talking about pictures and bar bills........I mean specialty restaurants, exercise classes, craft classes, etc.? Howie hates to go to the specialty restaurants but will go if I ask him to, or go with a group. The food we eat there is what they used to serve in the dining room. I don't mind as long as it's not more expensive. Oasis has a $50 a person restaurant and I'd never go there. I have never paid for classes of any kind.
  5. I did use the gym when I was doing to PT for my back but I don't do it regularly. I do however try to walk at least 1 mile a day on the walking track as well as the regular walking around the ship I do.
  6. Elevator up unless it's only 2 flights then I will walk, always steps down for the most part.
  7. Howie could sit on the balcony all day as long as the sun isn't shining on him. I love the large aft balconies so I can lay on a chair and read in relative quiet. I sat on our balcony in Alaska with a coat and a blanket and loved it! Of course it might have been the hot cocoa with the Bailey's in it too.
  8. John sorry those are some of the place I'd love to go next. We did the traditional Med. cruise. Wish I could help.
  9. Hi Mary. Welcome to Cruise Crazies!!!! We're practically neighbors we live in Orlando my parents live in your neck of the woods, Edgewater. Curious to see what you think of NCL. We have never cruised on them. Hope you make yourself at home. Stop by the Daily Dock and share your life and your days with us, it's a place to chat, wish each other well, and just get to know all of us. Glad you joined us.
  10. I'm thinking lunch in Bar Harbour........and a bit of a walk. Anyone else have plans there?
  11. I was wondering if you sneaked off on us Hector LOL Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
  12. Hi John and Jackie, We have cruised Alaska 3 times this is what we did: Juneau, Helicopter to Mendenhall Glacier and walked on it. Whale Watching and Panned for gold once. Ketchikan Did the floatplane to Misty Fjords (gorgeous) and the LumberJack show. Skagway we helicopter to another glacier (Mendenhall is way better) Can't remember what else. We've not been to Seattle and always want to go there so let us know what you do there. I am so wanting to go to Alaska again. I'm shooting for next year. It's been too long.

  15. The Crazie Explorers is as far out as we have booked. We usually book about 6 months out
  16. We were diverted years ago on a short cruise by hurricane Bonnie. We ended up in Key West instead of Nassau.....and we were thrilled. We have missed ports several times and we're used to that now.
  17. Welcome aboard Nathalie24. We will be more then happy to help you picking a cruise. We have many members here with vast cruise experience who will be more then willing to help you along the way. I think we definitely need more details before we can assist you. Could you tell us age range, activities you like, family? anything you think would be helpful but those are a great start. Please feel free to ask any questions along the way.
  18. I think if you cruise when the kids are in school it really doesn't matter which line you take. I don't sail Carnival but there reputation has improved over the last few years.
  19. In a word......... YES!!!! Of course not sure how much Howie would like that. LOL I guess I'd have to get off a couple times a year to visit the kids.
  20. I can't do a windowless cabin.........even for a short cruise. When our son gave us a weekend cruise for Christmas he booked us and inside, reminded us why we don't do them anymore. Next time we'd upgrade to a window.
  21. Welcome aboard Cruzngene51, glad you joined us here at CruiseCrazies. You'll find we are a very friendly, helpful bunch with lots of opinions, suggestions and general advice. I haven't been on New England/Canada yet but we are put of a group cruise that is departing 3 days before yours from Cape Liberty on the Explorer of the Seas. Really looking forward to this 1st time itinerary for us. We are still planning but we have some great private tours lined up already. We're called the Crazie Explorers and you'll find more info on the ports of call boards. Again welcome and we hope you make Crazies your new home.
