  1. Doin the Doc Dance with you Keith & Rita. Time to get out the suitcase and start packing.
  2. Just got the docs for our Sept. 1st 40th Anniversary cruise. Now it's time to work on the packing list and try to convince DH that YES I do need all those clothes in the pile.
  3. BON VOYAGE rdlouhy. Have a wonderful cruise - can't wait to hear all aboutit when you return. Wishing you blue skies and calm seas.
  4. Inherited my love of cruising from my parents who went every year when I was a teenager. I remember the Bon Voyage parties and walking around the ship before we had to get off and they sailed away. Once I graduated from high school I persuaded 2 friends to take a cruise and we all became hooked on cruising. It took a few years to convince hubby but he loves it just as much as I do now.
  5. Way, Way too big for my taste. Unless they give me a free cruise and a free scooter I seriously doubt I will ever see the inside of the Genesis class. Voyager class is plenty big for me and seems to get bigger each year. Perhaps it's just that I get older each year!!
  6. Jim enjoys dressing up on our cruises and always wore his tux on both formal nights. Last year he bought a white dinner jacket and now he uses both if we have 2 formal nights. First formal night he wears the tux and second night he wears the dinner jacket.
  7. WELCOME Carmen - So glad you found us here and look forward to having you post often. Come on over and play some fun games with us.
  8. I pack our carry-on bag with any valuables, our camera and our bathing suits and put the carry-on bag inside an empty small wheel- on suitcase. We don't have to lug the carry on, which can get heavy with 2 or 3 cameras, etc. and have an empty bag for the souveniers we pick up along the way. It also helps to have all the souveniers in one place when they grandkids are awaiting our arrival back home.
  9. Doing the Doc Dance with you Rose. Your cruise will be here before you know it.
  10. We both enjoy getting dressed for dinner, especially on Formal Nights. We rarely have a chance to do it at home so take full advantage of it when we can.
  11. Doing the Doc Dance with you jacketwatch (unfortunately I don't know how to add the clever dancers.)
  12. I enjoyed your photos. Thanks for sharing them. It looks like you had a wonderful cruise. Whoever put the album together did a fantastic job! It sure beats stuffing all the photos in a box.
  13. Jim & I are both retired. Jim was a stockbroker and like Mary I ran a small day care business from my home. My last "babies" (I had them from 3 months til we moved away 15 years later) will graduate from High School next year and we will be taking them on the Explorer of the Seas for a graduation gift. They are a part of our family.
  14. From my experience, try booking this excursion as soon as you board the ship. The cruise lines usually reserve a certain percentage of spaces on excursions to be booked on board. I have not been on the Freedom but I imagine you will be able to make bookings over the inter-active TV as soon as you get to your Cabin.
  15. I enjoyed your review Cheryl but am sorry your first RC experience was less than expected. I did appreciate you telling us the differences between the two lines and am glad that you did enjoy the cruise.
  16. BERMUDA is my all time favorite port. We have been there about 20 times (have lost count) but the beauty of the Island and the wonderful people always make me feel welcome. I enjoy the beautiful beaches and even enjoy hopping on a bus or ferry and watching the scenery pass by.
  17. I think the secret to the success of this site is we may disagree but we respect each others opinion and respect the right to disagree. This is by far the friendliest place around.
  18. BON VOYAGE CHERYL & WAYNE. Have a wonderful cruise - we look forward to hearing all about it when you return. I hope you like RC as much as Jim & I do. Wishing you blue skies and smooth seas.
  19. Cheryl, Again we have not been to CoCo Cay in a few years but there are definately many shady spots available. The staff will be happy to move a lounge chair into the shade for you. There were also hammocks under a thatched roof. I remember walking down a ramp to the tenders. I am sure if I had to climb down stairs I would remember that as I probably would have stayed on the ship. They did have a nice bar-b-q on the Island if you want to stay for the day.
  20. Cheryl. I have never done a 3 days cruise on RC but generally formal night is the first sea day which in your case would be Saturday. You will find all types of dress from ball gowns and tuxes to everyday street clothes. Your outfit sounds fine. I hope you enjoy your cruise and favorably compare RC to Carnival.
  21. We plan on heading to Paradise Beach in Cozumel during our September cruise. Thanks for letting us know it is up and running Glad you had fun there.
  22. I'm with you Mary. DH wants to know the name of the ship and the date. As far as all the details, it is up to me to "surprise" him as he would be perfectly content to sit on the balcony and watch the world float by. As far as the couple going on their first cruise who knew none of the details - just wait til the cruise is over and they are hooked on cruising - you will know every little detail of their next trip. LOL
  23. BON VOYAGE ROSE - Have a wonderful cruise. We look forward to hearing all about it when you return. Wishing you blue skies and smooth seas.
  24. Welcome back. Sounds like you enjoyed Carnival. I agree that all cruise lines should give some bonus to our veterans.
  25. Rogue & Cindy. BON VOYAGE -have a terrific cruise with clear skies and smooth seas. Looking forward to your review.
