  1. Yes, you did post a review. I looked it up and read it last night. Not too much about the ship itself, but it sounded like a fun cruise.
  2. Yep, we got one. But we have cruised on Princess 22 times! Have you ever cruised on Carnival? They own Princess and I'm sure they share their passenger list. I always get stuff from Holland America and I have never cruised them, but, guess who owns them also??
  3. Enjoyed your review. We will be sailing aboard the Insignia next December to South America, so we were very interested in your observations and comments. Thanks again for posting.
  4. Never fear, Jenn. Talking about secret places on board the Carnival Spirit only! A ladies' privacy should always be respected. Besides I've seen the size of your DH. Did you post a review of the Spirit?? And, we can compare note when we see you in February.
  5. Must be tough to be a Cruise Cleb!! All kidding aside that's great. I'm sure you will have a blast.
  6. I think that there are advantages to both large and small ships. If you liked the Elation, you will like the Triumph also. Carnival has come a long way since the Elation was built. But, to answer you question in general I prefer large ships for long cruises with lots of at sea time and smaller ships for port intensive cruises. More to do on larger ships and easier on and off and more relaxing on the smaller ships.
  7. Great News. Crazy is going to be a repeat passenger on the Carnival Spirit January 25th. When we invited her I did not realize she had been on the ship before. Now, she can show us all of Jenn's "secret" places. Looking forward to having her join our group of 70 folks on this cruise.
  8. Cuba is one of my favorite places in the world. Havanna has all the infastructure to be the best cruise port ever. Half the dealers in Las Vegas came from Havanna back when Castro took power. Spent nine months there in another lifetime. Loved the people and the island. Can't wait to go back.
  9. Years ago we did a Country Western cruise and had a ball. Yes, we would do it again.
  10. Robb, In Belize you might want to try Cave Tubing. Did it in June and it is fantastic!! And you get a trip that is twice as long for half the money through CaveTubing.com. These guys are great. Not to be missed.
  11. For sheer fun: Cave Tubing in Belize. Most emotional: The Normandy invasion beaches. Most beautiful:Santorini anc Capri. Biggest let down: Pompeii.
  12. All right, James looks like a great choice. We will be sailing the day before you aboard the Carnival Spirit, but on the other side of the country. We leave out of San Diego.
  13. We stick pretty much to the three meals a day thing with the addition of Scones, with cream and jam during "High Tea". Which sometimes presents a problem because we use early seating, Tea time and dinner can run a little close together.
  14. I think you might be right. Have not had or noticed a problem on our recent cruises. Will take a closer check on our upcoming Spirit cruise out of San Diego. These Carnival ships off the West Coast tend to draw a lot of first time cruisers and I think they are more likely to try and hold a chair all day, just in case they might want to use it.
  15. I've found no real bargains in the islands. They do carry a lot of models and put together some bundles including a case, and other small items. But, the actual price of the camera is not that different that here at home. I bought one in St. Thomas a few years ago simply because it was there and so was I and I wanted to use it on the rest of the cruise. But, it was no reall bargain.
  16. I guess there is another advantage to being a little "older." Right up there with "Senior Coffee" at Mickey D's.
  17. On our second time aboard the Zenith we were invited to a private dinner hosted by Mrs. Chandris, wife of the owner of Celebrity Cruises. Turned out we were the only Americans at the party all the other invited guests were Greek. Of course all the officers were there and they know how to party after a few drinks of ozo. I ended up in some kind of line dance with the officers. Was our most outragious night on a cruise ship with our clothes on.
  18. After all our cruises, I think we have met pretty much everyone at least a few times. So, I guess my pick would be the Cruise Director, they seem to be the most fun.
  19. Go Get "Em Joey!! KIck back and enjoy your RCI esperience.
  20. Joey, I assume you mean after eating. Probably be the production shows. And, we love going ashore and exploring on our own.
  21. Congratulations and you know you will get though it. But, where the heck are you going and on what ship??
  22. Usually email the kids a couple of times on a cruise. And I check my email account since I use it for business as well as personal stuff. Don't do any of this daily, after all it is a vacation.
  23. For the past several years we have used "special" suitcases for cruising. They have two separate compartments. One for hanging garments and the other larger area for general packing. We pack the hanging garments in cleaners plastic, and this really keeps the wrinkles down to almost nothing. I use packing cubes for underwear, socks and polo style shirts. Actually two for the shirts. Make my unpacking very easy. Each of us have this type of suitcase. They are 29" roller bags which are easy to handle in airports, etc. In additon, Roe uses a matching Carry-on bag and I use a small day pack for medications, electronics and other important things which we do not check either on the plance or when boarding the ship. Our luggage is bright RED which we enclose in heavy plastics covers, so there is no problem spotting ours at baggage claim. The covers keep the bags clean and very protected. Other than that we don't do anything really special, but look forward to others ideas.
  24. We have not done it yet either. But, on our upcoming Spirit cruise, may give it a try since we will not be flying. How tough is the screening for bottles while boarding Carnival in San Diego??
