  1. Been to several areas along the hotel strip. Any cab driver can advise you which hotels have day passes which provide access to their beach, beach chair, unbrella and sometimes a couple of drinks in addition to rest rooms and changing areas.
  2. Joey, So did we! Right near the underpass out to the seaport. Some really beautiful work on sale there. Almost the only thing we bought in Europe except for some Birkenstocks I picked up in Venice. The Euro is so strong againist the dollar the prices were out of sight. Ed
  3. Pictures of the Old City of Dabrovnik can be seen at: http://www.photoshow.com/members/edwynn/ A very fasinating place to visit. Don't miss it is you have a chance to visit this Port of Call.
  4. Back to the real world. We normally take two (one each) 28" dual compartment pullman bags. One compartment for hanging formal wear and the other for all the reqular stuff. Roe takes a roll aboard with all her makeup, hair dryer and usual junk. I carry a back pack (really a day bag) with all the electronics and camera stuff. On a long cruise (12 days or longer) we take an extra duffel bag for shoes, snorkels, etc. BTW, I have speakers for my MP3 that travel with us. Work great. For a power strip I picked one up the the .99 Store which is only about 6 incehs long, but works like a charm for the extra outlets you need on a ship. The only way we could cut down is the bag the formal wear, but we won't do that because that was one of the reasons we started cruising in the first place!! Next cruise will be Number 50! And, our 15 anniversary cruise, so it should be really special. Over that many cruise we have destroyed several pieces of luggage, in fact, our new stuff just arrvied via UPS today. And, it was the wrong color, so they are shipping us the red stuff we ordered. Glad we are not heading out on a cruise and waiting for these new pieces to arrive.
  5. Our photos of Venice are posted at: http://www.photoshow.com/members/edwynn/ They were taken June 6-7 while cruising aboard the Legend of the Seas. Enjoy,
  6. Just fininshing editing our Venice pictures. You can see them at: http://www.photoshow.com/members/edwynn/ May make you want to visit or return to this very unique city.
  7. Great shipboard shots of a fantastic ship. We sailed her out of Brooklyn in October of 2006 and loved her. I'm sure we will sail on her again somewhere down the road.
  8. We don't see many cruise ships in Las Vegas However when we were in Venice (Italy not California) We saw "The World". She is the one you have to buy into like a Condo. Very nice looking ship to say the least. Saw several people in and around St. Marks Square wearing World logo wear. We were in Venice two days and she was there the entire time. Some fantastic yachts in port as well, but not quite as big as the ones we saw in Monte Carlo a few years ago.
  9. We've sailed Carnival 10 times over our cruising career and I would say the one thing that has always been consistant is the upbeat attitude of all their crew member.
  10. Hey Joey, Had that URL incomplete. Try this one: http://www.cruisemaster.com/spirit.htm
  11. Joey, I've got a Princess cruise before the Spirit, You can take a look at all the details on the Spirit cruise at: www.cruisemaster.com/spirit Just to whet your appitite. lol
  12. BonnieBell, They are still taking bookings and our group is now 60 strong. If you want details drop me an email at: edwynn@earthlink.net And I'll give you the URL for the website with all the info.
  13. That's great stacked two deep, Congrats. We were stacked four deep for awhile, but are now back down to two. I guess it's time for me to get busy and start doing some research. We are doing the eight day thing on the Spirit in Jan. 08 with a group I put together. Got some fantastic pricing and so far 60 folks have made their reservations. Smooth sailing,
  14. Hi Joey, Have not sailed on the Spirit yet. But I have 60 people going on her on January 25th including Roe and I. Doing a fund raiser for the Stephen Ministry at our church and the response has been out of sight. Of course the pricing is fantastic and that helps. Like at Cat. 8A Ocean View with Balcony for $796.13. Not too bad, huh? And, that is for an eight day cruise and includes all port charges and taxes. You can see why so many have booked. BTW, this sailing is out of SD. Want to join us? BTW, as you know I'm not a TA, just the guy who organized this cruise. This is the third one we have done in as many years. Regards,
  15. In March of this year we went to a Beach Resort on a one day all inclusive pass. Included the use of all their facilities, including a great pool, changing rooms, fantastic beach with lots of chairs and some shade, also the use of their non=moterized water equipment like kayaks, etc. Had a trampoline in the water as well a an inflated rock climbing wall. It also included all your food and unlimited drinks. All for $40 per person. We were there for both breakfast and lunch and had a fantastic time.
  16. Any where I've been on 7 Mile Beach has been smooth as silk, no a rock in sight!! You can walk out 100 yards and still be about up to your sholders. Water is crystal clear, but no snorkling worth speaking about. Only thing I ever found snorkeling was someone else's Tender Ticket from the ship. Many of the resort areas have fresh water showers right on the beach. IMHO, one of the best beaches in the world.
  17. I would not worry about it. Sounds, like you got the best deal. And, Carnival has a one day only sale about once a week, based on all the emails I receive from them.
  18. We did this port last October and had a very fun day. Go to Margaretiville and just jump in the water and enjoy their fantastic pool and swim up bar. Or, wander out to the adjancent beach an swim in the warm water, very near your ship. I think you will enjoy this port of call.
  19. Hi, We just returned from a cruise out of Rome two weeks ago. We stayed at a fantastic little hotel suggested in Rick Steve's guidebook. Great location, pretty good price for Rome, just saw our bill show up on the credit card and I think we spent $184 for the hotel including breakfast and all the taxes, etc. The trip, by private car, took one hour and 10 minutes including a couple of photo stops. We arrived at the ship at 11L10 AM and were the only people checking in!! Never got on a ship faster or easier. I'm sure the train works well, but if you pack like my wife does and have large suitcases, I've been through trying to get them overhead on European trains and would not want to go through that again any time soon. The private car (van) cost me less than the cruise line transfer back to the airport after the cruise. Be advised that our dollar is very weak against the Euro, so there are really any bargains in the EU now. Rome is a fantastic city, you will enjoy yourselves.
  20. I was over 50 when we did the falls. No one in the group had a problem. Water quite cold, but other than that a piece of cake.
  21. Hi Shipmates, Go to the link below to see some Pictures taken this month in Split, Croata, a great port of call. http://www.photoshow.com/members/edwynn/ Click on Split, Croata.
  22. I would like to add another: 25. Anyone who delays a cruise ship shore excursion bus by not returning promptly shall be required to make their own way back to the ship, or as an alternative be run over by said bus.
  23. I've seen booster seats on some cruise ships but not high chairs, probably a storage space problem.
