  1. and, I for one, doubt that it will ever happen or if it does that it will be the financial success they expect. What cruisers expect has changed vastly over the years. How many balconies does she have?? Just one example of what is now "expected" these days. It's a neat idea, but somewhat of a "pipe dream" IMHO.
  2. Thanks for the info. We will be aboard the Legend of the Seas in Italy in about two and a half weeks. Any information on Signature Coffees? You know like Irish Coffee, etc.??
  3. Forgot to mention we have been to the Dominican Republic (Puerto Plata).
  4. Gee, we will be in Portofino on June 1st so will will miss it by about two weeks. Loved the original Royal Princess both times we sailed on her. Looking forward to doing this one someday.
  5. We have done St. Vincent
  6. Can't tell from the map. But here are some to add or consider. Cuba, Belize, Aleution Islands (Adak), Isreal, Crete, Rhodes, Santorini, Croatia, Chech Republic, Hungery.
  7. No, we are going on May 31st. Just received their reply today with the complete schedule for our sailing. So, it works.
  8. We just did the Glory after a lapse of about five years on a Carnival cruise. And, we really thought Carnival has done a fantastic job upgrading the food and the staterooms. You will love it.
  9. I always check out www.cruisecompete.com and search all the other internet sites as well. We sometimes book an interior cabin if we are cruising to places we have been before. The cruise experience is still the same. No magic to it, just good research.
  10. This is just one part of their effort to foster and promote family cruising. They have found a marketing nitche by promoting to familes with young children. I'm sure this will give new life to these ships.
  11. Popsec, We just came back from Cozumel last month. We got a one day pass to the Reef Club Resort. It was great we went for both breakfast and lunch which is included. Also all your drinks are included with the pass. So, there are no hidden costs. Fanstastic pool, great beach, free use of non-motorized beach stuff. We went kayaking. Cab ride is $12. One day pass is $40 each which includes all of the above. We had a fantastic day. Click on the website below and then click on Carnival Glory Cruise and the very first pics are of this resort: www.photoshow.net/edwynn They have a website as well and we made our reservations via the site before we sailed.
  12. Great question and great answer. I'm going to check out the entertainment on our May cruise.
  13. Southampton is a fine port for Cruisers. A bit of a haul from the London Airports, but it is a great jumping off spot for the British Isles, Northern Europe and the Med. We usually spend a few days in London and then head down to the ship.
  14. I'm sure the hotel concept is being done to fit different price ranges. Kind of bringing First, Second and Third Class sailings. I have my doubts that this will get off the drawing board. But if she were docked in San Diego you could walk to Mexico before she sailed.
  15. I'm assumming that this is your first visit to these islands. CocoCay is a cruiseline private island, basically a day at the beach which can cost you nothing. Lunch is served ashore and other than the cruise line constructed facilities there are no excursions. St Thomas and St Martin have become primarily shopping islands, but I would suggest you go ashore and talk to some cab drivers about a tour of the island. You can barter on the price and it will be less expensive that booking through the ship. This is true on both of the islands. On St. Martin you will see both the Dutch and French sides of the islands and on St. Thomas, Bluebeards Castle, Megan's Bay, etc. Been to all of these locales about 20 times and still enjoy them on every visit.
  16. Hi Tommycruiser: We have been to most of your ports and are in the process as I type this of selecting our shore excursions for our Legend of the Seas cruise next month. In Lovorno, IMHO Florence wins hands down. However, since we have already been there, this time we are taking a tour of Tuscany. In Naples the last time we did Isle of Capri, this time we are off to Pompei and Sorrento for the day. We will visit Rome precruise again, so not really a shore excursion. Have a great trip, but then I know you will.
  17. No effect on us at all. We are still booked ahead with: Royal Caribbean Princess and Carnival Want to spread it around.
  18. I love it. Just looked up the PowerSquid on the net and I love the looks of it. Just the ticket for the stateroom plug problem. I'm gonna order one. Gotta have it for our Med. cruise next month. With, cameras, videocams, phones and all the other electronics we all carry this should be a lifesaver.
  19. Yep, they will cash your traveler's check on board. Going to Disney World take lots of $$. We spent a week in Orland prior to our Carnival Glory cruise and I think that cost me more than the cruise! Have a great trip.
  20. Tonia, Checked out the Marriot Gaslamp and they want $320 for that service. A little steep for us. Holiday Inn is booked for our date, so I'm going to keep looking.
  21. Hi Gang, We will be doing an anniversary cruise in October aboard the Dawn Princess and I thinking about driving to San Diego the day prior to the sail away. Would like to locate a nice hotel which will permit us to park our car during the cruise and provide transfers to and from the ship. I think they call this a "Snooze and Cruise Package." Anyone done this? Suggestions please.
  22. Joey, I've heard of "cover all Bingo", but "uncovered Bingo!!" MIght be a new wrinkle that could catch on. Perhaps you should pass that idea along to Carnival. They are up for anything to make a buck!!

  24. Boy, the world is full of them!! Is this the guy who claimed that sharks tore off his clothes?? Our van driver in Port Canaveral on Saturday told us about his couple, or at least I think it was the same couple.
  25. Just submitted my review for this cruise aboard the Carnival Glory, should be available in the Cruise Review section before long.
