  1. They all need to follow Princess in this area. The Elite perks are the best afloat. Makes it difficult for us to sail with anyone else.
  2. Thanks for the great pictures, Howard. Now we are really ready to sail on the Crown. Counting the days till our September 30th departure. Again, thanks for sharing.
  3. If you are crusing in the tropics a white dinner jacket will work anytime! About half the time I take mine together with the normal black tux. Makes two different looks for the formal nights. Also own several ties and cummberbund sets to change the looks and a couple of different shirts with different collar shapes. This way I can mix and match and not have the same look every formal night. I even have both single and double breasted tuxes and which one I take depends on how I feel when I'm packing. So, my advice is go ahead and get the white jacket.
  4. Hi All, Thought you might be interested to see some of the aftermath of the listing aboard the Crown Princess. The link below will take you to the site of a Florida news channel which then will link you to home video taken on board. Very, very interesting. She is now heading into NYC where she is expected to pick up passengers tomorrow and set sail again on a cruise that has been shortened by two days. Giveing 50% refunds to all who sail tomorrow and allowing those who wish to cancel to do so with no penalties. http://www.wftv.com/news/9537406/detail.html
  5. Great work, JBond. Been to a lot of those places and it really brought back some very good memories. You do a fantastic job with your setup. What software are you using?
  6. I think the most for a year has been four. Only two this year but one was for 16 days and the other for 9. Total of 46 cruises so far. Looking for a really big Northern Europe (including St. Petersburg) for next Spring.
  7. I don't think they have any idea yet. Or, at least one that they are sharing with the public.
  8. Sorry for the double post. My putter "burped".
  9. Our friends who are scheduled to sail with us aboard the Crown are in a minor panic at the moment. Have a frantic phone call into their TA, like he is going to know more that any of do at this point. We are scheduled for Sept. 30th sailing, and I'm sure they will have this problem long behind them by that time. If not, I'm sure Princess will make the sail, no sail decision for us.

  11. Wow, hope they get this fixed prior to our Sept. 30th sailing  But, pretty much as always Princess had stepped up to the plate. This is one of the reasons that our Crown sailing will be our 20th on Princess. Treat folks right and they return often.
  12. Great review. We will be sailing for nine days aboard the Crown on Sept. 30th so were interested in all your comments. Did the do the Movies under the Stars thing?? This will be our 20th Princess cruise, so I think we know what to expect, but a new ship is always exciting. Again, thanks for your review.
  13. IMHO you did not miss much. We have done a number of Captain's Dinners and with just a couple of exceptions they were kind of "stuffy" affairs. Think you made the correct move.
  14. Hey Shari2, Roe and I are thinking of the Carnival Spirit in February 07. We have not been on Carnival in years also. I'm thinking about puttiing a chruch group together for the eight day run out of San Diego to Acoupulco. We can charter a bus to get everone to the port. Did this last year on the Diamond Princess and put 40 folks on board. Just booked our air and hotel for our September sailing aboard the Crown Princess out of NYC. That should be different. Last time we sailed out of NY the World Trade Center towers were still there. Back to the subject. We have never had a bad cruise on Carnival, not the best line we have sailed on, but for bang for the buck you can't beat it.
  15. For us it has got to be Santorini. Nothing quite like the Greek Isles.
  16. Looked it up on the net and JohnG is correct it is on the opposite end of town. The posted taxi fares are slightly less into Charlotte Amalie, but of course higher to Red Hook and Megan's Bay. Kinda curious to see what this new upscale shopping and dining area look like. Hope we do end up there this trip.
  17. This kind of begs the question of where is Crown Bay?? Been cruising into Havensight for many, many years, so this may be a new adventure. We are scheduled into St. Thomas on board the new Crown Princess in the first week of October. Contract is effective October 1, so I guess we may get the answer to my question first hand.
  18. Welcome to the real world guys. Just got off the Coral Princess and we had around 70 CC'ers in board and some of them pleaded with Princess for months. No go. We had our gathering and bought our own drinks, no big deal. Same thing on our upcoming Crown Princess cruise over 175 in the group and nothing.
  19. Good tips, John. The norm seems to be two days in St. Petersburg, however, I did see one with three days from Oceana. Will need to check reviews on that cruiseline, as I've not sailed with them yet. Thanks for the help.
  20. Hi Gang, Would like to hear suggestions concerning the selection of a cruiseline or ship for a Baltic Cruise. Have you had any experiences, good or bad in this area?? I know most of the Major cruiseline go to this area, but do not know anyone who has actually cruised here. Any comments, suggestions, etc. will be most welcome.
  21. Welcome to our little community! It's been 46 cruises since we were "virgins" to cruising, but sure remember that first one! Think you have gotten pretty good advice from other board members. I'll address the cabin size thing. We did a mini suite wit balcony with our twin grandsons aged 13 and it worked out fine. A little tight, but you have a lot more control this way compared to a separate room for them.
  22. We are looking forward to just that view on Sept. 30th during our sail away aboard the beautiful Crown Princess. Last time I sailed by The Lady was aboard the Zenith and we got some great video including the twin towers of the World Trade Center!
  23. Sounds like a good promotion. We did the River Cruise thing last year and found it very enjoyable. The interesting thing is that in many towns the River Cruise boats tie up side by side sometimes three deep, so the outside passingers get to walk through the other boats to get ashore. Gives you a great chance to see what the other boats look like. Having done that at several stops, I think K still prefer the Uniworld boats to any on the European rivers. Viking has more boats, but no nearly an nice as the Uniworld boats. Viking shore excursions are interesting. It appears the who boat goes as one group and everyone is issued a set of earphones so they can hear the guide who may be a block ahead of them. Very impersonal. Uniworld divided us into groups of f5 6o 20 and had a guide for each group. Passingers with similar physical capabilities were matched up so the group pace would be approptiate for them. On our last morning we watched a Viking boat rear-end and sink and oil barge that was tied up at a pier. Wonder where that Skipper is working these days. Probably with the Captain of the Mercury who was fired for being drunk on duty.
