  1. Did that and get the following message: Please log into your forum first. The Skipper not allowed. I am show at the top as logged in, so needless to say, I'm confused.
  2. I know I'm doing something wrong, but have no clue what it may be. So, how do I get into the Chat Room?????? :undecided:
  3. PEB, Thanks for the canal camera tips, I will be sure to use them as I want some really good video and stills of the transit.
  4. Well, cruising has always been a warm weather sport for me. We were in the Norwegian in July in ski coats and I did not find that too much fun!! Was stationed in the Aleutian Islands (on Adak) with the Navy and swore if I ever got off that rock I would not come back. So far I have kept that promise. That said, I'm putting together a group from our church for a cruise to Alaska next summer! They seem to want to go, so I'll take my CD player with my steel drum music and earphones and dream of the islands.
  5. We are looking forward to the canal transit. About three weeks ago we did a European River Cruise and went through a total of 64 locks on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. I found it quite fasinating to watch these operations. Good tip about the camera and the heat and humidity. I have had problems on deck sometimes coming quickly out of the air conditioning into the heat. I've heard it is best to put the camera in a plastic bag for awhile until it has a chance to adjust. I guess we can always put it out on the balcony a little in advance and see what happens. I would love to move to Costa Rica, but Roe had a medical problem which prevents that. I know you are gone to your cabin for the weekend. We are having a cold spell here in Vegas only getting into the 90's during the day. Almost too cold to go in the pool!
  6. We honeymooned aboard the Majesty 13 years ago. Saw her again about a year ago and she still looked great. What kind of info are you looking for?? I have saved every daily handout from all of our 45 cruises, so with a little digging I can probably tell you anything you want to know.
  7. We are doing Ft. Lauderdale to San Fran leg of the trip. No, have not been on the Coral yet. Was on the Diamond in January and in the last couple of years, the Grand, Sun, Golden and Crown. Enjoyed them all. But, then I've never been on a cruise I did not like!! We booked this cruise while on board the Diamond in January. Gotta look up our room number for Capt. Ron. That is if I can ever get back on the CC board.
  8. Hi PEB, Just noticed you were sailing with us on the Coral Princess through the Canal in May! Outstanding! Drop me a line and we can compare notes as that date gets closer. This one will be our 18th cruise on Princess and our 46th overall (unless I can talk Roe into slipping in another one in December. Got some good pricing out of L.A. Hope to here from you.
  9. We have been on a couple of Christmas cruises out of L.A. over the years. Both were with RCI and were very enjoyable. Lots of decorations, caroling, and merry making. Santa even made an appearance. We were also on the Infinity with Shari2 last year, and she is correct the decorations were outstanding! Holiday cruises still appear to be a little pricier than those right before or right after.
  10. Great Pictures! Thirteen years ago next month, Roe and I honeymooned aboard the MOS. Not likely to forget that ship!
  11. Mary and Andre, I would say UniWorld is a cut above Viking. In Vienna, we watched a Viking Ship ram an empty oil tanker, and sink the tanker. The bow of the Viking ship was a mess as we headed out to the airport for our return flight home. We saw many, many River Cruise Boats during our trip and the only other ones I would consider are Amadaus or perhaps Vantage. One thing we wanted were real beds, not bunks that convert to sofas during the day!. UniWorld's beds are great and the linens were far better that 99% of the cruise lines we have ever sailed on! On a par with Silver Seas. The towels were as thick as the egyption cotton ones Roe bought recently for $35 each here in Las Vegas. So, my recommendation would be to collect some brochures from other river cruise lines before you decide. I spend two years doing research and you have even longer than that to do yours.
  12. Just returned from our European River Cruise from Amsterdam to Vienna. This was our 45 cruise, but our first river cruise and I have to say we were very, very impressed! We will be doing another one before too long. I guess I was expecting it to "less than" our normal cruises, but it far exceeded any expectations we had. I will be posting a complete review in a few days, but in the meantime if you have been on the fence about this type of cruising, do it! UniWorld did a fantastic job. We loved the River Duchess.
  13. That's the one! We loved it and I'm not usually impressed with beaches. Would go back in a heartbeat!! We actually look forward to returning to Costa Maya because of this beach resort. I think you, and the kids, will enjoy it.
  14. Well, it looks like you guys have it nailed!
  15. Thanks for all the good wishes. We have been really looking forward to this river cruise for a long time. After, 44 "sea" cruises this will be very, very different. Have been to the area a couple of times, but always driving. Want to unpack once and arrive in the center of town ready to go! All the electronics are packed as well of the meds. The rest of the stuff will hit the suitcase today (at least mine will, can't be sure about Roe). Even taking a tripod this time, so I can set up on deck and get some really good, steady video of all those Rhine castles! We will be departing Las Vegas about 10:40AM on Saturday for Chicago O'Hare (ORD) then connect for an overnighter to Amsterdam. Boat departs Amsterdam about dinner time for Germany. So, we should have a little time to get out and see some of the things we missed the last time we were there. Joey, what kind of "special" drink are we talking about. I know they have a lot of funny stuff to smoke, but, don't know about the drinks??? Thanks to all of you for the birthday wishes as well. I know of no better way to celebrate than at a sail away! I'll check back in prior to our final departure and perhaps from an Internet Cafe while cruising.
  16. My Swiss Army Knife. Find a use for it on every cruise. The sissors always come in handy as well as some of the other tools. Which reminds me, I have not packed it for our Saturday departure for Amsterdam and the River Duchess!! Gotta go dig it up!
  17. There is a great beach about 35 minutes from the pier. Can't remember the name of it, but it can be booked aboard your ship or at the pier. New motor coaches (with good AC) for transport and excellent facilities at the beach. One of the nicest we have seen in Mexico and we have seen a lot of them!! Had a great day there.
  18. We have always enjoyed the larger tables, just like the rest of you. We have a table for two at home most every night.
  19. Sure looks like St. Martin to me as well! :undecided:
  20. No doubt some ports of call may have to change. But, the good thing about a cruise ship is that it can get out of the way! Those coastal cities just stand there and wait for it to hit! Much rather be on a cruise ship!
  21. Ok guys I think Terinzak got the message. I would ask her "is it going to be any easier to get a passport a year from now, given the Long-Lost Dad issue??" It is a bother, but really not that big a deal. It will be good for 10 years and very simple to renew. My advice is "bite the bullet" and get it over with, then enjoy your cruise without the minor issue still hanging over your head.
  22. Our TA called yesterday to say that our docs for our upcoming cruise aboard the River Duchess had arrived in his office and that he is forwarding them to us. They included a lot of stuff like a backpack etc. bring the total package up to 4 1/2 lbs.!! Gotta be the biggest doc packet we have ever received. I'm going to be out of town all next week, so I probably won't get to see it till I return. So, Roe will have to do the doc dance all by herself! Departing for Amsterdam on July 30th and will celebrate my birthday on the 31st aboard the River Duchess. Can't think of a better place to be to celebrate!
  23. Great Pics! Also took a peak at your Mercury Mexican trip!
  24. Sounds good to me. I'd love to try a cruise out of Charleston!
