Not for me! My idea of "camping out" is a three star hotel! The Skipper

I think I would go with Carnival and a seven day cruise. As everyone has said their Camp Carnival is a wonderful program that the kids will enjoy. Disney will cost you more. I remember sharing a Jitney back to the pier in St. Thomas with a young couple from the Boston area who were aboard a Disney ship and were very disappointed about the costs for everything. They had three kids with them and felt they were being "eaten alive." This couple had been cruising on other cruise lines so they did have a basis for comparison. I say seven day, because you will be barely unpacked and it will be time to leave on a shorter one. Have no fear, you all will enjoy it! The Skipper

Part 1 of Review of Regal Empress Posted
TheSkipper replied to DaCruzNut's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
HI Jeff, It took a little doing, but I did get all of you photos loaded in you two part review. What a kick! We sailed on the Caribe I in October 1984 (wow, 20 years ago). She was no youngster even then. We had the "Honeymoon Suite." Not because we were on our honeymoon, because our TA messed up and let the Suite we wanted slip away and he HS was the only one left. Anyway, enjoyed your review and the pics. The Skipper  -

Hi Shari, You mean a European type shower head which can be hand held. Wow, I don't remember on Princess, I'll be sure to notice on the Sun and let you know. We have one like you mentioned in our guest bath, got it because we liked them on cruises and thought our guests (and you get a few of them when you like ing Las Vegas) would enjoy it. Yes, I will write a review. We were aboard the Sun Princess sailing of October 19, 1996 and I have my cruise log, but no mention of the shower heads. I can tell you our cabin number, waiter's name, who our tablemates were and the shows we saw, our ports of call, etc., but nothing on the shower heads! The Skipper

Maria, You have had a lot of good advice here. Don't worry about a thing. They will get you on board that ship!! And if your luck is like mine, the people in front of you in live will not have filled out a thing or signed anything, can't find their passports and you will get to cool it while the are walked through the entire process or at least it will seem that way because you are anxious to get on board. Still happens to us afte 40 cruises! The Skipper

I think you would enjoy a Princess Cruise. One of the great perks for their frequent cruisers is FREE unlimited internet access while on board! For us computer nuts that is fantastic. We were in Europe aboard the Royal Princess last fall and kept in touch with the kids and our housesitter daily. The housesitter even sent us a picture of our puppy so we could see he was doing fine in our absense. Princess is right up there on my list of favorite cruise lines (in the main stream category). Silver Seas is our all time favorite, but a little pricey. We will be aboard the Sun Princess in April out of Ft. Lauderdale for 10 days. Fair winds and calm seas, The Skipper

Thought I'd pass this along to all you Cruisecrazies: Disney Magic may alter course By Laurin Sellers Sentinel Staff Writer February 27, 2004 PORT CANAVERAL -- Travelers hoping to book a cruise on the Disney Magic next summer will have to hold off awhile -- at least until it's determined just where the ship will be sailing. Disney officials said this week they are considering changing the Magic's itinerary for the summer of 2005, which could include different ports of call, shorter or longer cruises and even another homeport during the three-month period. "We're looking at all our options," said Mark Jaronski, spokesman for the Disney Cruise Line. "But leaving Port Canaveral permanently, that's not an option." The Magic first set sail from the Brevard County port in 1998 and has been offering seven-day cruises to the Caribbean since 2000, the same year a second ship, the Disney Wonder, joined the fleet. Questions about the Magic's future surfaced recently when travel agents tried to reserve group space on the ship next summer and were told space was not available due to itinerary changes. However, the agents were told space was available for next spring and fall. An item about the changes in Cruise Week, an industry publication, prompted speculation that the Magic might be relocating to Southern California to tie in with the 50th anniversary of Disneyland in Anaheim. But if it does sail from the West Coast, it won't be for long, Jaronski said. "We've invested a lot of money in Port Canaveral," he said. "As far into the future as we can see, Port Canaveral will be our year-round port." Port officials said Thursday they would hate to see the Magic go, even for three months. "You never like to lose income," spokeswoman Dixie Sansom said. "But if that should come about, we would know in advance in preparing next year's budget and would take it into consideration." Sansom said it's not uncommon for cruise lines to check out other ports for future expansion. Ships also can be out of commission up to a month for dry-docking, she added. A few changes already have been made in the Magic's itinerary for this summer, Jaronski said. Along with the usual seven-day cruises, three-day and four-day cruises to the Bahamas also are being offered. And, in December, the Magic will embark on a 10-day Caribbean cruise. "We're 6 years old now and have a lot of repeat guests," Jaronski said. "The new itineraries give those guests an incentive to come back." The Skipper

Under sunny skies in Nagasaki, Japan, the new Diamond Princess was named today in a colorful ceremony which featured traditional Japanese festivities set against the state-of-the-art ship. The ship was delivered earlier in the morning to Princess Cruises by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI), builders of the 116,000-ton vessel. You can reach the story directly by going to http://www.newstream.com/cgi-bin/display_story.cgi?12515 The Skipper

You bet, Shari. Just saw an interesting deal on the Diamond Princess for September out of LA. Trying to decide if I want to switch from the Legend of the Seas to the Diamond. It will run about $200 more per person, but it is the newest ship afloat. Will have to give this some thought. However, the Infinity is locked in since both of Roe's sisters and hubbies will be on board. The Skipper

As I recall it was about $14 pp so for a couple you are looking at close to $30 for a round-trip. The Skipper

Only one place in the world it can be and everyone has already identified it. Yep, we have been up the tram a couple of times, a great trip, getting a little pricey, but still a great trip. Will be back there in about 8 weeks! Jason, where can I get my stateroom door sign?? I know I saw them once, but can't seem to find them now. The Skipper

Hi Kieth and Rita, Just took the tour of Sea Club V thanks to the link you provieded. Looks great. We have stayed at Longboat Key in the past, so have an idea where it is located. We were married on Duck Key near Marathon, down in the "real" keys. We own a couple of weeks of timeshare which we trade out each year. Just swapped one for a week in Palm Springs, CA in May. I am going to be leading a seminar there for two days and the swap will give us a chance to spend a week instead of just rushing in and out. What type of unit do you recommend at Sea Club?? Might make a good future swap for us. Have a sister in St. Pete, so we could spend some time with her or just bring her down to the resort. Looking forward to your reply, The Skipper
