  3. Cruising Down Under is still a few years off. Hopefully we will be able to afford it by them.
  4. Thanks for the great review, Judson. Maybe one day.
  5. St. Lucia is our favorite. It is a beautiful Island. We also liked Curacao also, but not quite as much.
  6. I didn't know that they allow you to bring anything but wine aboard for personal consumption on board at any port. I think you can bring alcohol on at any port if you want to store it and take it home.

  8. There really is something for everyone.
  9. Certainly a necessary evil, but the Life Boat Drill always seems to annoy me. Also debarkation and unruly kids. We have been sailing lately on cruises that will not have many kids. The rest of the cruise I pretty much go with the flow. After all, I'm on a cruiseship.
  10. We've never cruised without insurance. This just reinforces my feeling of needing it,
  11. This was our senior class trip from Nuring School. There were 2 guys and 20 girls on this cruise from our class. That, for starters, can't be bad. The crew, all Italian, treated my other male classmate and me like gods. They thought we could introduce them to any of the girls so they can "date" them. The wine steward bought us a bottle of wine each lunch and dinner. The crew took us on to St. Maarten and didn't allow us to buy a thing. There were quite a few free drinks while on the ship. The only thing was that we were not about to introduce any of the girls to any of those horny "gentlemen". It turned out to be a great trip all in all.
  12. We typically book abut a year ahead for most of our cruises. We have booked as far out as 1 1/2 years, but that really felt like a long wait. The shortest time was about 9 months.
  13. We enjoyed St. Kitts. Pretty beaches, but which Caribbean island doesn't have beautiful beaches.
  14. We really don't ever think of budgetting during a cruise. We typically spend abou $75-100 a day. This include excursions.

  17. I did the fist, and now I'm over 27,000 posts later. Whew, that's a lot of typing!!!
  18. In 1999, Cindy and I were cruising for the 1st time together for our 20th anniversary. We were on the Nordic Empress to Bermuda in October. We were awakened the first day nearly being thrown out of our bed at about 6am. Shortly after, the Captain came on the intercom saying we were just going thru a small squall and would soon be OK. Unfortunately this lasted all day. As it turned out, Hurricane Irene really sped up and took us a bit by surprise (now this was 1999, not 1939). We turned northwest away from the storm, then south and eventually the storm passed us by. We were having 30 foot waves and sometimes as high as 40 feet waves at the height of the storm. We missed on day in Bermuda due to the storm. We received absolutely nothing as far as compensation was concerned except for a certificate stating we were now members of the Hurricane Society. No one really seemed to care that we received no compensation. Today, there would be revolts and sit-ins on board

  20. We're watchers. It is enjoyable to see what people will do for a small trophy or a bottle of cheap champagne.
