Come now. Free enterprise does not exclusively go to the last entity selling a product. The cruise companies have to deal in a market also. They have to maximize their profits, just like everyone else. That's what their stockholders demand.
Setting prices is nothing new in the world. It has been going on for quite a long time. Do you own a Nintendo or something like that? Nobody screems when they fix their prices.
Good TA's will deal with it and get you what you want.

The best port we've been to is probably Juneau. The sights there are amazing. Between whale watching and the glaciers, you can't beat it.
Coming up second is Bermuda. I would go back there on any cruise.

I was born in 1950, and just got my passport this past May. We had no problems at all getting it. You're right that it isn't much easier with a passport, but it is a little easier. Besides, if you decide to take a trip somewhere that you do need it, you'll have it.
