  6. Bicker is right. Something that seems new and unacceptable today, will one day be the norm and people will not flinch at it at all. The thing that people hate the most is change, but the only thing that is constant in this world is change. Never say never. There usually is no such thing as never. Howard

  8. Do you read books on cruising? I'm sure that if your reading this post, you have probably bought at least one cruising book. Personally, I have read quite a few. My favorite is "Cruise Control" by Pamela Kane. It is slightly dated, but all in all, very helpful. She is very funny, and quite informed. It's a very easy read. Another book that I enjoy is "The Esential Little Cruise Book" by Jim West. This book is also somewhat dated, but easy to read, and informative. We also get travel books about the area we're cruising to so we can plan things that we want to do. When we went to Alaska, these books were a great help. Which are your favorite cruise books? 10. One thing I found out about anticipating a cruise is that you can't wait until it's here. Then a couple of weeks before it is actually here, you suddenly feel that you don't actually have enough time to get ready for it. :undecided: Howard

  12. Iggy, Congrats on your 25 anniversary. We took an Alaskan cruise last month for the same reason, but ours really isn't until October. The Skipper is right, the anticipation is a large part of it. For many things, there may be a let down after so much anticipation, but not for cruising. This being your 1st cruise, you'll fall in love with your ship from the moment you see it at the dock. The 1st time you walk into the Atrium, you'll know that this will be one of your best vacations ever. Keep reading the boards so you'll get a good idea of exactly what you want to do on the cruise. Let the anticipation run away with you and dream of cruising. There is no dream that is as good as your 1st cruise. The amazing thing is that on every cruise you take after the 1st, the feeling comes right back as soon as you step on the ship. I know that I'm probably making the wait worse, but that's life. You'll have to be satisified with the little things like making the last payment, getting your docs, geting down to single digits, etc. Good luck and have a great day tomorrow. Howard

  14. I agree. Once you have a balcony, it's hard to go back. Especially in Alaska where the scenery is constantly changing. On most cruises, you're looking out at the ocean most of the time. But in Alaska, you're usually looking at some type of scenery. We felt that on our Alaskan cruise, the balcony was worth more than we actually paid for it. Howard
