  1. princess yrs, ago had a cruise to the WWII pacific battle site including Midway island and some other. I would love to have done that. The battle of Midway after which Midway airport in Chicago is named was the turning point in the Pacific war. Its of great historpical importance.
  2. Zebra we just got off the Legend and did not like the ships decor.
  3. I think it's fine and glad it worked out for you
  4. We just got off the Legend. Though we had a good time overall I think you will like the Liberty a lot more. Thats the choice I would have made.
  5. I think he was gone by the time the Liberty came out.
  6. You took my breath away with that review! So glad you had a good time!
  7. Hi guys. Well so far all is well. The crew has been great and we have GC tomorrow then a sea day and back to Tampa. We were issued a letter about safety here so we will just hit the pier shops and venture out very close by. A full TR will come. I do think this ship needs to be redone. I can see why CCL fired Joe Farkus, their decorator. The atrium is dark and looks conjested, the opposite of what it seems it should be, open, lighted and airy. However all is well!
  8. its pretty cool to be capt. of ship. It has prestige and perks but also comes with great responsibility too. its not all glamor. Capt. Shettinno behaved as if it was the fun part he wanted but literally and figuratively abandoned the responsibilites entrusted to him as capt. His duty was to say on board and coordinate the evacuation of passengers first, then crew. The same applies to Capt. Lee. I think only when all is lost is it every man for himself. Clearly these two capts. just booked out asap.
  9. Happy anniversary! Its one thing to miss duties like the sweater and the sheets but its another to not take responsibility for those mistakes. That part bothers me more than the actual events.
  10. very sad as many of the ships crew are far away from home and are their families main source of income. We are suppoese to port there from our cruise leaving Tampa 4/27. I will check CCL website to see if they have dropped this port.
  11. Hmmm. I know they work very hard and I have seen wait staff cleaing up after the 2nd seating and working breakfast the next day. She told she had to be on duty by 0600 and must have been in the MDR until at least 2200. What break she during the day, if any I don't know. I was told that staff sometimes get no shore time in port. I will ask some of them on our upcoming cruise though I think the house keepers seldom get a day off. Whats even more sad is that despite the grind they make more money doing this than they would at home, especially if they are from countries with depressed economies.
  12. We are going back to Princess after 5 yrs. its the Diamond which just finished a refit like 2 days ago. Its early Sept. and has 5 stops in Japan and 1 in Russia. We are only 157 days away.
  13. I once saw a guy strip down to his shorts and jump off a bridge into the Chicago river much to the cheers of a bunch of onlookers. This was quite late during the 4th of July WE. Wonder if they are related. :D
  14. OMG how awful. man I am sorry to hear this and what are the odds of literally bumping into the same folks at the outset and the road home. Mind boggling.
  15. I agree with Jan. It all depends on your personal preference. We usually prefer the bigger ships like the Solstice class or the Voyager class but would try the Oasis class just to check it out. An officer on the Equinox made a ggod point I think about the Oasis calls ships. Just imagine what would happen in a crisis like with the Concordia. Imagine panic among sat 5-6 k passengers. Interesting point.
  16. I wonder how the Russia/Ukraine situation will effect this. Hopefully by then the trouble will be long gone.
  17. Good luck. That "wow"experience might be waiting for you on a different ship like the Voyager or the Freedom class. Those are nicer ships. Have a great time Sarge.
  18. Actually noro virus was first noted at a a school in Norwalk Conn. and so it was a land based illness and not a cruise ship illness as many seem to think. I had it on the Connie in 2010 and it was traced to passengers returning from Jerusalem. While we were there I saw so many people touching religious artifacts and sites like the tomb of Jesus, the slab he was laid on after crucifixion and so on. I even saw people kissing some of these artifacts so its no wonder noro spread back to the ship. Its very interesting to see that its not the food service thats to blame, its the bathrooms and other public places. Good to note. For our upcoming cruise I will bring disinfectants to clean the br myself.
  19. Unless its illegal to fly the Union Jack in BA then why would they want to strike the colors?
  20. Seems like a good idea. If there is a market for this and there must be otherwise RCO would not be doing this I wonder if other cruise lines will jump in. CCL has so many lines but what about NCL? They are a stand alone line and are not bolstered by their cargo business line MSC. I do ownder how NCL as a stand alone stays in business sometimes.
