  1. Cool! Hopefully we will embark from Tampa next spring.
  2. So I consumed a Dirty Bastard tonight. No I did not become a cannibal and rid the world of a bad guy. :D. It's an amber Scottish ale which washed down the fish entree I had at Roy's where I had a very pleasant dinner with Jay and Albrey.

  3. I like smart casual. Formal is OK too but I prefer the relaxed feeling I get dressed smart casual. I would like to see dress codes followed a little better. If you say its formal then be sure that men at least have a jacket on. It seems dress codes have really slipped over the years. Sign of the times maybe?
  4. Time to make the donuts. :D.

  5. So my wife was talking to her sis in India. Onions there are 500 rupees per kg. At about 60 rupees per dollar do the math. Thats like us paying $4.00 per lb! Eek.

  6. And now I'm sipping a nice Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon. Pretty oaky and very nice.
  7. For me it would be hard though of course it's a moot point. Perhaps one day soon (I hope) our son will get hitched and we want it to be big as there are lots of friends and family so getting them one a ship would be impossible and I am sure many would want to witness this. I'll bet it would be 300-400 so its easier to get them all together on land for a day or two vs. a ship for a much longer period of time.
  8. On board I like a nice, cold beer. I make it a point to try a local brew in every port we go to. The best I've had IMHO are the local Guatamalen brew called Gallo, which is sold in the US as Famosa, and the local Santorini brew called Yellow Donkey. This is made in Santorini and I was told its not even exported to other parts of Greece. Its named after the well known dinkey rides up and down the mountain. There is another brew, a bit heavier called Red Donkey. Ohterwise a nice, single malt Scotch dios it for me.
  9. I like the idea of a BBQ station. It is a smallish ship by todays standards but some people like that and an upgrade would be all the more appealing to them. I would think there has to be a market for this size ship or otherwise Princess would not be spending all that money to refurbish her.
  10. So Sue said "pretty good steak" which I grilled. USDA prime NY strips baby. They should be. :D. Got em for about half off at Costco!

  11. Your entire tone is argumentative and I do not appreciate it and caps is considered shouting in cyberworld. Sorry if you don't t know that. No one here has to answer to you as to why we feel the way we do. I could say more but it seems I am not being asked politely but rather in a way to defend my opinion. I am not here to debate you or anyone about why I feel the way I do. I would appreciate it if you would just agree to disagree and move on. I intend to.
  12. We all have our own opinions. This is mine. I am not here to defend myself or argue with you. And all caps is considered shouting.
  13. Our law suit happy society in action again . when our son was 18 he got into an accident driving one of our cars in a collision with a motorcycle. The driver of the bike settled with the ins. co. right away but his passenger thought a broken toe and a few stitches was worth the limits of his policy, 250K. She sued and ended up 17 k in the hole for non justified medical claims and follow up tests, consults etc. for phantom symptoms. Serves her right! Some see it as unfortunate and accept the appropriate compensation offered. Others see it as a get rich opportunity.
  14. Hmmmm. Honestly not sure I agree here. You are on a plane for hrs. vs. a cruise ship which is not just a means of transport but a vacation package which includes food, a cabin, entertainment, etc. Naturally you expect more in the event of problems along the way. I would expect a vacation venue like a cruise to do more vs. an airline that may have to delay or cancel a flight. The airlines aren't promising a vacation whereas a cruise is.
  15. For me I began to wonder about other attractions in the Solomon Islands. I've never heard of this chain being a tourist destination.
  16. I am not a smoker. I used to be and quitting was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. That and the severe effect on ones health that I have seen over my 34 yrs. of being a nurse makes me passionate about this. Disney still has designated smoking areas, just not the balconies and I support that. Sarge whatever cruise you were on completely failed in the situation you mentioned. I would have complained in person every day and escalated it as far up as possible. However measures taken to curb smoking and we have had many over the yrs. are due to awareness of the sometimes fatal physical effects of tobacco don't compare to a group of rowdy kids. They cause aggravation but not emphysema, heart disease, vascular disease, cancer and so on. Please try to quit. Smoking can only harm. It does no good. Sorry if this offends. It's not my intention. It's just that Imam truly saddened when I see people smoke, especially if they are young. Incidentally Disney also relaxed their dress code to allow shorts in the MDR, even on formal nights.
  17. Coming home today I saw a DC-10 by O'Hare. For airline buffs that's one of the original jumbo jets which came out after Boeing introduced the 747. The DC-10 is an old, old plane and I wonder if this one has been made over for cargo.

  18. We tend to go early and have found that if you get there an hr. b4 the announced boarding time then you can get on with relative ease. No worries.
  19. As for publicity I think the fact that this mishap occured in port vs. at sea with no propulsion makes a huge difference in terms of passenger accomodations. If the Mille lost power at sea like the Triumph then probably there would be more made about this.
  20. About the only disappointment we had last yr. on the Equinox to the med and Greek islands was the lack of US sports coverage. The baseball World Series was on then and they did not show it. The previous yr. on the Connie they did televise it and we were in the same area and in fact we went to some of the same ports.
  21. Totally riveted on this Nat geo shown"life below zero" it's about daily life for 2 couples and two singles life right near the Arctic circle in Alaska. Talk about living to just survive. Watch it sometime.

  22. Yesterday reg. gas at Costco was just 5 cents less than my usual gas station but premium which is what we have to use was 25 cents less per gallon. Big difference.
