  1. Well guess I'll watch "Beasts of the Southern Wild" a critically acclaimed movie with Quvevzhane Wallis who at age 6 was the youngest person ever nominated for "best actress."

  2. What a way to start my day. Can't go to work b/c one of those big coiled springs for my garage door snapped. Can't even open it manually.

  3. So why are Asian air carriers regarded so well? I called United to get locator and tool free numbers for the Asiana, ANA and Thai airway flights we booked through their Star Alliance partner program. Well the agent told me she had to go to two different screens to get that info as if it was a bother for her. Uh, scuse me but who's the customer so I told her if its too much bother than just get the locator numbers as thats more important anyway. Then I called ANA and Asiana and was treated l...

  4. I've been a big fan of PR for many yrs. We spent a week there about 17 yrs. ago or so and had two cruises out of SJ and another three day stay there after the 2nd one. Love the place.
  5. Sorry about your bad experience. Personally I've had good cruises on Carnival but I would not cruise on this type of voyage. These are "booze cruises" on older ships and you confirm what I have read before about them.
  6. When I click I get a list of the reviews here. Can't find it.
  7. Sipping Templetons rye and watching PBS show about leopards. Yep, it's good.

  8. Once when Sue, me Jay and his GF were going on a cruise the TSA agent at the airport gave her a hard time at inspection. I could see her getting ticked off big time and its lucky for the agent, an obese way out of shape female, that this was not outside. She would have cleaned her clock! Once Jay told me that one night in a bar as she was walking to her table some guy got too frisky. From what I hear he's still trying to catch his breath from the shot to the solar plexus. To add insult to injury, literally, his friends told him he got what he deserved! Luv that gal.
  9. Scalise what is your opinion of what cruising is all about? For us it's a lot inc. the ambiance, being well treated on board, good meals, friendly if not pampering service and the chance to see many places in a short period of time. What is your ideal model for cruising?
  10. Cool stuff Ray. I do recall once that Princess was not strict on the muster drill. In fact there were two crew in our cabin at the time fixing something and they sort of blew it off as well.
  11. Booked a cruise of course! I looked at the sailings out of Tampa for that time and found that the Carnival Legend leaves the day after for 7 nights and goes to places that either we've never been or were at so long ago that it will seem like new. We've never been to Roatan or Belize so that's cool. The cruise also goes to Cozumel which we went to for a few hrs. from PDC in the mid or late 90's. It also goes to Grand Cayman which we went to for 1 week in 1991 so that will be new too. Actually as a huge Chicago Bulls fan GC I will always remember as while we were there I watched them win the NBA championship vs. the Lakers. Our hotel did not get the satellite signal for the game but fortunately across the street was a little place called DJ 's bar and grill which did. I wonder if its still there? Anyway all this is contingent on us getting the vacation time so wishes this way please! Thanks, Larry
  12. Why chose a lawyer to get my Indian visa. First of all let me explain something. Three yrs. ago my Indian wife had a nightmare of a problem getting a visa for a trip home even though she is a naturalized US citizen with a US passport. We got tons of contradictory info from travisa offices in various parts of the country and thought we would have to cancel our trip. We finally ended up hiring a lawyer who was able to get her visa. Just suffice it to say it was hell. For me getting my visa...

  13. Well having been there I do wonder if its because there isn't much to do. We saw the reversing waters of the bay and the market by the dock and took a bus tour but it was a bit slow. I hope the local Econ won't be adversely effected. What will they replace it with?
  14. Hmmm. If all I want from a cruise is to see the ocean then I would do freighter cruises. Just kidding of course. Actually I look f/w to hearing about this too. Sounds exciting
  15. Well I think it depends. For us a balcony is a must. We love sitting on it, having snacks, coffee, tea or just watching the ocean. Also I remember what happened once in the Caribbean while docked in St. Thomas. I put bread on the rail for the gulls and believe me they gobbled it up so then I held bread in my outstretched arm from the balcony and they swooped in and took it from my hand! Really cool. However one must factor in the cost too. Some may be on a tight budget and can use the $ for excursions, especially for cruises like Alaska where those are costly. Yet again some can afford it but say they are so seldom in the cabin and its not worth it. We tried concierge class on X and we could do it again but decided what you get is not worth the extra cost.
  16. I tend to agree, especially when it comes to the lunch buffet. IMO the buffet selections on the Equinox last fall was the best we have had, even better than the previous best on the Tahitian, now Ocean Princess which had to serve only 700 passengers.
  17. Next time you think you have it rough watch "life below zero" on Nat Geo channel. I just can't understand how people choose to live like that. They are rare breeds.

  18. I do wonder when they will change their itineraries. Mayb when the Quantum class comes out?
  19. Actually I got a nice response from X to the tune of $240.00 OBC though I must say it took some persistence but finally I found the right person.
  20. Also it seems like NCL has come to terms with the Epic being a design not worth duplicating. The Breakaway looks like a beautiful ship and its seems they decided they needed a ship design that make people want to sail her and they have that and now seem to be tweaking it to make it even better.
  21. Glad it worked and I agree that you are more likely to get a response if you submit a balanced, well written letter vs. one full of negatives that reads like a tirade.
  22. Interesting in that the dimensions are lust a bit bigger that the Breakaway class. It seems the tonnage is more relative the the small increase in passenger capacity by only 200 passengers. I wonder if this ship will seem like it has more space.
