  1. I saw that too. Its so easy to just be a cyber bully when you arena no danger of getting it back.
  2. I wonder what happened. As she apparently wasn't injured was it traffic, losing track of time, forgetting the all aboard time, thinking the ship would wait anyway or what. Perhaps this is not the first time she has been weird like this, who knows. I mean if its somewhat typical then maybe the hubby is used to it. .
  3. I fully agree. This one is on her. Why she was late we don't know and actually this was the lead story on Inside edition yesterday but really its up to her. Her hubby bailed her out and it must have been an "interesting" trip back to NYC.
  4. This woman missed the boat literally. She was about 40 mins late, maybe more and the ship was pulling out as she was hurrying to the dock. Her hubby got off to look for her and left their kids on board with his brother to look after them. He took his and his wifes travel docs and apparently NCL was aware of this and they flew back to NYC with some help form NCL or so I read. http://nypost.com/2016/04/27/stranded-mom-sobs-as-cruise-ship-sails-away-with-her-kids/
  5. I get that. My mom was ok with us going but happiest when we were home safe and sound.
  6. Our planned cruise on the Ovation in Nov. has been cancelled by RCI. Some group chartered it and it's now a 5 day cruise in Oct. After that it resumes the route our original 11 day cruise was to have taken. Embarkation is now from Hong Kong and not Tianjin. Too bad cus we already got biz class air from ff miles. RCI will pay for our fees to return the miles but still it's a bummer.
  7. The dau. and her hubby of a friend of ours lived there for a few yrs. and wanted to reside there permanently but even though he was making good money as a lawyer it wasn't enough. They just could not afford it. It is very expensive but also very beautiful. For example if you want a car you first have to get a license just to buy a car. That should be up to 40k GGD or about 29k USD at the current exchange rate. Then if its a new car expect to pay about 2.5 to 3X what we pay here and the cost is not negotiable. Its full sticker. Period.
  8. "Loved it, esp. Singapore" Click here to view the cruise review
  9. They have to do a feasibility study first but if it can be refurbished I bet people would flock to cruise on this ship again.

  12. I agree with the ship size. It seems like some of the new gigantic ships are getting mixed reviews. Bigger is not always better when it comes to cruise ships. I like the size of the 100k ton - 125k ton ships for the most part. I also have enjoyed the 75k ton ships I have been on. It seems like you don't have to walk as far to get where you are going. The good part about the big ships is that I can use the extra walking to walk off some of the food I eat! Perhaps it was a coincidence but it was on the mega Oasis where we sensed the least degree of motion or sway.
  13. Thank you. Cats just wasn't for us but that's not to take away from how well it was performed. Actually the terminal crew in Ft. Lauderdale overall was disappointing. Conversely the crew in the port of Yokohama were amazing. Different attitudes about service and work ethic I think
  14. I am sorry to hear of this awful experience. I do agree to avoid the older CCL ships snd the booze cruises which are on them mostly. Princess offers a great experience and we will be on our 6th cruise with them in Feb. on the Sapphire out of Singapore.
  15. No matter what led to this a young man died needlessly. I do wonder if we will ever really know or even if we should as its a private matter. Such a shame.
  16. Well a few issues. Most people who retire, aside from the money issue have chronic medical problems and need regular visits to MD's. Then what about maintainence medications??. How would you get them? Then there is the issue of confinement to a ship. And what about support from a social circle that you would not have. I can't see this work for but a very, very few.
  17. Well its been about 40 hrs. now and no luck. I do hope he had a life ring to hang on to. It looks bleak. So sad.
  18. We had a great time and there were lessons learned. We will no longer use ships transport and forget about calling RCI customer relations. We will call C and A and I have email and phone numbers for CS issues that are higher up.
  19. The video was on national news. I heard he was drunk so I pray he survives.
  20. Just got my issue of CN Travelers mag with reader polls. Disney is #1 in large ship category and to my surprise Cunard is #2. I wonder if this reflects the reader demographics.
