  1. Yes! We are in Chicago and there are plenty of places here with great beef.
  2. We met an Aussie couple who mentioned seeing Aurora Australius or the southern lights. I think it's similar.
  3. Cool list. Maybe RCI will get the picture and drop the $7.00 up charge.
  4. Cool list. Maybe RCI will get the picture and drop the $7.00 up charge.
  5. I could not agree more. I just keep calling and go up the ladder until I find someone sensible. I was prepared to send a reg. letter to Michael Bayley if it came to that. I will call my TA at some point to see about any contacts she may have.
  6. Jan I think there are different shows on other ships which are likely more appealing like "Mamma Mia" on the Allure so that would be much better. A show that is fun like "Grease" or "Jersey Boys" would be cool too. The nightmare continued with calls to customer relations for RCI. I asked for a $50.00 OBC for our future sailing on the Ovation as I think this is reasonable for the horrible transfer and callous treatment. I made a call to some gal who seemingly was more concerned with winning an argument and refused, yes refused to give me her supervisors name. She was stuck on the point that all they had to do was get us there on time. To her nothing else mattered. Unbelievable. Another call got me the same "no, we don't do that" but at least this time I got a supers name. I then called Crown and Anchor and found the real people who gave me that OBC in no time and reported my issues up the ladder. The next day I spoke with a higher up about how their customer relations (a true oxymoron) folks treated me. She was about as astounded as me and said she knew the person who refused to give me her supers name and said she called him to say she would handle it from here. I get the idea miss "no I wont tell you his name" will get a talking to. We also were given further compensation, a free bottle of wine and dinner for two at any of their speciality restaurants on the Ovation so that is very fair.
  7. I am following up with this and will post when this issue has been resolved.
  8. "Wonderful ship!!" Click here to view the cruise review
  9. Well lets hope that is the case. However after our last cruise on the Legend last yr. I will have to see the reviews improve before I sail with CCL again and I used to be a big fan of them. What really turned me off was the mess of an interior design, the cluttered atrium and frankly the spring break behavior of some of the passengers some of whom are way older that spring breakers! getting drunk and dropping "F" bombs on the pool deck was, well you get the picture. Maybe it was just this ship at this time but it was a real turn off. Having just gotten off the Oasis I can't see us using CCL in the near future but we'll see. As for US airlines I couldn't agree more. We have flown on some top 10 rated airlines including ANA, Lufthansa, Asiana, Thai and Turkish and guys our carriers are way behind when it comes to on board service. I hope they wake up. The UAL lounge at O'hare even charges for booze. Astounding! Never have I seen this before. The Maple Leaf lounge in Toronto for Air Canada is way better for example and all inside is free.
  10. I don't use the ships Internet anymore . When I am in Port I just go find a free Wi-Fi connection and that works just fine for me .
  11. Well we're on the ship and so far it's really nice though we haven't seen too much yet . We just unpacked and now we have to do the life boat drill and then we can get started on a great vacation .
  12. Well sooner or later that has to happen. Lucky for us our Sapphire Princess cruise in Feb. came with pre paid gratuities. I hope they wont try to add the difference.
  13. Well Jan I think 2 will be fine. It's only 7 days. :D.
  14. Oops. I did not realize that this was an older Post and I read about the details of what restaurants are involved . Again for us just skip it ?
  15. Well first lets see how much the Ala cart cost compared to the overall fixed surcharge. For us the main dining is usually fine and we no longer normally spend extra money at the specialty restaurants . Also how many specialty restaurants will have this feature? I hope it won't be all of them though again for us it really doesn't make much difference . NCL did have a policy about not taking food to the cabin but that was met with so much dissatisfaction that they reversed it so if this new policy if there is is met similarly then let's see how long it actually lasts.
  16. We did reserve times and they are all between 1745 to 1800 so hopefully we should not have to wait too long .
  17. Thank you. That means 4 bottles for us but 2 will be fine. It's nice to see a cruise line actually reducing some fees or charges vs. adding more.
  18. Can you bring two bottles of wine on board for use in your cabin upon embarkation? Otyer cruise lines let you but for us its been a while since we were on Royal. Thank you.
  19. Knee surgery is scheduled for the middle of February, just before school break so that I'll have more people around to help when I get home. I've had to put it off several times already for one reason or another, so I'm hoping this will be the last reschedule. Except for one person who had to have a re-do, I've heard only stories of very positive outcomes, so I'm optimistic that I'll have my own success story to tell. Jan I think so too. That may be in my future one day as well. Good luck!!
