  2. Miami - (April 28, 2008 ) - For many homeowners, "spring cleaning" can be an overwhelming chore. But just imagine if the effort involved replacing 2,707 square feet of tile, 9,843 square feet of carpeting, and 2,500 yards of fabric. Within just 17 days, Celebrity completed all that and more on Celebrity Summit during the ship’s scheduled drydock period from April 11-27 at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg, Germany. The ship resumes its European season tomorrow, complete with a new 11,000-kilowatt diesel genset (dedicated electrical generation system), which reduces fuel consumption by generating electricity for the ship while in port. Additionally, dance enthusiasts will find an entirely new floor in the ship’s Rendezvous Lounge, shoppers can enjoy a completely renovated boutique gift shop area, and guests with attention to detail will notice freshly-varnished wood railings and newly-polished surfaces throughout the ship. "We are constantly focused on the care and maintenance of our fleet, and evaluate the exterior and interior appearance of every ship, every day, to ensure we’re consistently delivering the best guest experience," said Celebrity's Senior Vice President of Marine Operations, John Krousouloudis. “We tend to be modest about talking about the work that takes place during scheduled drydocks, but it’s a high priority, and a significant investment, because we know how important it is to guest satisfaction and our brand as a whole,” added Celebrity's Vice President of Hotel Operations, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. In 2007 alone, as part of its standard maintenance program, Celebrity Cruises invested more than $13 million across the fleet in bedding upgrades, new gym equipment in the fitness centers, marble polishing and repair, carpet replacement, new teak surfaces on several pool decks, varnishing of wood surfaces, revitalization of various gift shop areas, and new upholstery.
  3. nothing like first hand knowledge... Thank you!!!!
  4. David's never been ..i of course have visited a few times ...I was thinking of having David take a personal day on Friday so we could into MIA pick up a rental and drive down on Friday then spend the weekend in key west before heading to the port on Monday.... then we would fly directly home after the cruise... thus utilizing only 2 of his 4 weeks available staying any longer could hamper any other vacation plans we may consider.. does that make since?
  5. OK it is NEVER to early to start mapping out plans .. we have NEVER sailed form the port of Miami..I think I know where it is but I am not quite for sure... If I may a few questions to get my preliminary research started: Anybody with thoughts on these questions please feel free.... What hotels are generally recommended for pre cruise or post cruise stays for Miami How far i guess the correct question is how much would a cab be if we booked a hotel on ocean drive in south beach instead closer to the pier. Does anyone know if car rentals offer Free shuttles to the cruise port when returning a rental.. Approximately how many miles is key west from Miami ?? driving time??
  6. nah not at all if anything it's a work of ok cool as soon as we come up with a slogan i will get to work
  7. Hey Miss Jackie ... question please.. Did you think the lapel pins made for nifty keepsakes?... think I should do that again?
  8. Debbie thats our 2010 cruise I want to take ...TA from europe to the west!
  9. See half your tables filled... john will hook it up... just dont talk about me and david...lol
  10. Lisa those are two nice breaks!!... Not only does it allow you to get out to sea TWICE .. you also allow yourself to stay on budget.! for us Other than the Crazies group we haven't booked another one yet for either 08 or 09... I had those 3 short getaways first of the year ... Mr David hasn't been on a cruise since our Princess cruise last october..... so he is overly ready.... but unfortunately isn't available till like July.. and then the ships are more "family " oriented ... and we tend to shy away from cruises with lots and lots of young(9-17) people.. so he will have to wait till December i guess.. unless we squeeze something in out of the Pacific northwest in august or September.. one of those last minute bookings..
  11. if i kept getting upgrades when making payments i would have to have broken the installments down to 10 payments...

  17. I know that John can arrange tables of couples that want to sit together during dinner ....all you have to do is take a head count and let him know how many per table.. .. he can arrange it ...that as easy ...as easy as a crew members response..."it would be his pleasure" ..... But to answer your question Jackie.... yes we still prefer our table for two for dinner... but we are accepting invitations for Sea day Lunches!!
