  2. I have a feeling this rule change has been "suggested" by the insurance company
  3. Celebrity Brand Alcohol Policy<] •Effective as of all sailings commencing on or after July 28, 2006, the minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on all Celebrity ships is 21. However, on cruises departing from European and South American countries, where the legal drinking age is typically lower than 21, a parent who is sailing with his or her son(s) and/or daughter(s) who is between the ages of 18 to 20, may sign a waiver allowing the 18 to 20 year old to consume alcoholic beverages. The 18- to 20 year-old must agree to comply with Celebrity’s policies, including among other things, agreeing to not provide alcoholic beverages to any other person, regardless of age. Restrictions apply, and this policy is subject to change without notice. • An individual’s age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for the entire cruise vacation. • Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports of call or from onboard shops will be stored by the ship and delivered to guest staterooms on the last day of the sailing. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Celebrity’s Guest Vacation Policy may be enforced, up to and including disembarkation, if a guest violates any alcohol policy. Guests under the age of 21 will not have alcohol returned to them. • Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Vacation Polices. • Celebrity reserves the right to revoke or otherwise restrict drinking privileges of any guest, regardless of age. • Additional policies for groups are located in the Appendices of the Travel Agent Guide and are enforced without exception.

  5. FYI from Joey<] I received this information today in a newsletter I subscribe to: http://www.travelswithfriends.com Money in the Euro Zone<] Many people ask us what to bring – cash, cards or traveler's checks? Now that much of Europe is on the Euro, there is no need for frequent currency exchange. It is possible to leave home with all the spending money you will need for your entire trip. In addition, ATM's are everywhere in Europe – even in small villages, and they will work with cards from major systems worldwide. Just be safe and contact your bank in advance to put a note on the account. Remember you'll need a 4-digit PIN, so if yours is longer change it before you go. With the availability of ATM's, travelers checks are becoming less common and are not as convenient as cash. Credit cards are widely accepted, but small business, like family owned restaurants and B&Bs, still may require cash. . Whatever you bring, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Carry enough cash for the day and leave the rest in a hotel safe or keep it in a money belt. If you bring two credit cards (e.g. a Visa and a MasterCard) or ATM cards, separate them. Pickpockets are rare, but gawking or confused travelers can be easy to spot. Keep your purse secure and when in a crowd consider keeping your money and credit cards in your front pocket. In the unlikely event that the worst does happen, travel with a list of all international contact numbers (Major credit cards may have separate contact numbers for each European country) and credit card account numbers so that you can quickly cancel lost or stolen cards. If you bring travelers checks, keep a list of the serial numbers. Always keep this information separate from the actual cards or checks. Don’t bring cards that you don’t intend to use, such as your business credit cards, so you don’t find yourself making unnecessary cancellations. . Just observing the simple advice above will afford you additional peace of mind. Travel smart and feel confident. Also I received an email from a TA friend of mine: Celebrities new alcohol policy:<] Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Vacation Polices. 12. Well all i know for sure that is that October 31 isn't the same as in the US Here is the last paragraph of an article from about.com http://french.about.com/library/bl-halloweeninfrance.htm Halloween in France is rather controversial, due to the perception of corporate and cultural influence, as well as the fact that it is not a typical French holiday and some people still don't understand what is being celebrated. Because Halloween is seen as an American celebration, some French people refuse to enjoy it, having decided to include it in their anti-American boycott. It's too early to tell whether Halloween will develop into a long-term tradition; once the novelty wears off, it may turn out to be just a fad. And yet, interestingly, the French have been celebrating the ideas at the very heart of Halloween (respect for the dead) for centuries. 31 October to 2 November have traditionally been spent, especially by older generations, visiting cemetaries, honoring saints, and attending religious services.
