  3. Hey DaCruzNut/ Jeff How many of those 59 cruises were transatlantic? Insurance for us is more like a monetary safety net of the Investment, As you know some cruises can be pricey especially if you plan to do a lot of excursions. And a Mediterranean Cruise you can almost double the cost, So anytime we plan to spend that kind of money, I want to make sure its not wasted. With the fact that we leave not only the United States but the Continent I figured that just incase "something happened", health concerns, evilness in the world, some emergancy situation could be a second mortgage. it would be better to be safer then half hearted , when you are not local. This way (Heaven protect us) I could get us back home, no matter what. The cost to protect the investment was at a cost that is less then 1/2 of 1%. I agree I hadn’t and probably wouldn’t buy insurance as long as I stay local and local for us is North America, if we get to much further than the Panama Canal then I start thinking insurance.
  4. Hi cruisinmama, Thanks for your review of Royal Caribbean’s the Monarch of the Seas. I was sorry to hear that some of the experiences you had didn’t live up to your expectation. Such as the dress code on formal night, the fact that the onboard “tap†water tasted bad, and even the experience you had on an excursion not being able to understand the guide, and even the problems with your passport and disembarkation. Even with all that.. You said you loved it! That shows you are definitely a Cruise Crazie Our first cruise was a similar experience, it was a Carnival Cruise, Lets just say after that first 4 night voyage it left us desiring more but at a higher standard of excellence. Bottom Line Your family loves cruising! Now the fun begins for real! Finding out what cruise line works for you! (and to tell you the truth that’s the fun part of cruising trying the different brands, supporting the ones you enjoy and skipping the ones that didn’t please you) what ever you decide.. Remember Your a cruising mama! Enjoy the discovery!<]

  6. Lets gage the interest in planning something for 2007 I understand the concerns of how far out it is we can work around it.. All I am looking for now is an acknowledgement that if everything is at a normal pace for you personally you would consider a group thing as a possibility for a vacation. I do have the Mediterranean group thing for David's Birthday in October 06 if anyone is interested in that.. Thank you very much

  21. Hi schatje, My take on the insurance is it's a Dollar amount for a time frame period, so one policy for both cruises is possible. may i suggest you check out a clearing house insurance website that i found quite useful: http://www.insuremytrip.com good luck and lucky you a B2B i always wanted to try that ... Maybe when DP finally retires or gets to the 5 week vacation:)
  22. I had never purchased Travel insurance before, until I booked our European Cruise for October 06, After asking the question "was insurance worth it" on a couple of "other" boards, I realized I have a small fortune invested in this trip, plus the fact we would be on foreign soil, just as piece of mind I bite the bullet and paid $450 dollars to cover both of us for a $9500 policy to cover almost everything. I did learn a few things all policies are not the same and that there are some that are state resident sensitive, the policy I bought recognizes David and I as "next of kin" I thought that might be necessary especially so far away form California. So to answer the question more concise, depends on the cost of the trip and the destination. <]
