have any room left? seriously though.. they are big enough that on a port day 15-20 could mix and mingle on the veranda ...on a sea day depending on ocean conditions it could be too choppy.. on the Millie during our wine party we had people get a little queasy.. queasy is OK, just don't lose your footing! the seas were fairly rough.. if i remember two had to go lay down.. because of it.. -
The Health Ministry on the Dutch territory said the tests were a precaution to prevent the spread of the virus after three crew members tested positive for the H1N1 influenza and 11 others showed symptoms. Helicopters buzzed overhead and Coast Guard boats flanked the cruise ship as passengers disembarked into the cruise terminal. Nearly a dozen health officials shrouded in white clothes and wearing masks tended to them as they checked for symptoms. Aruban passenger Miriam Tonk-Croes said that people on board were calm but frustrated by the long wait and lack of information and were eager for the their trip that started June 12 to end. The Ocean Dream arrived back in its home port early Friday and Health Ministry officials said it would take several hours to check the roughly 400 passengers and an equal number of crew for basic flu signs such as cough and fever. Swabs will be taken for further analysis from anyone who shows symptoms. If a preliminary test comes back positive, they will be kept under surveillance on the ship along with cases of people with confirmed cases. Those judged healthy will be driven to the airport in order of their flight departures, said Edison Briesen, transport and tourism minister. The ship is operated by Spanish company Pullmantur, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The company Web site indicates it has another cruise scheduled to start from Aruba on June 26. Reports of the illnesses on the Ocean Dream led port authorities in Grenada and Barbados to block the ship's scheduled stops Wednesday and prompted Pullmantur to cut short a nine-day cruise that was supposed to end this weekend. Venezuelan authorities said 381 passengers, mostly Venezuelans but including 55 foreigners, got off the ship Wednesday night at Venezuela's Isla Margarita. The ship company said that was the final destination of the Venezuelans. One Venezuelan and one Argentine among those disembarking showed possible swine flu symptoms and were separated from the others, Deputy Health Minister Nancy Perez told government television. Pullmantur said in a statement that the crew members with flu "are suffering mild symptoms and are recovering as expected." The company said passengers would receive a partial refund. Venezuela's state news agency, Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias, said the passengers were from Spain, Colombia, United States, Argentina, Peru, Netherlands, Brazil, Chile, Panama, Uruguay, Russia, Romania, France, Belgium, Ireland and Italy. Some people on the ship were angry at first, complaining they weren't getting enough information, but the majority calmed down after being told they would arrive in Aruba soon, Tonk-Croes told The Associated Press. "Everyone is eating and having fun and dancing. Now we have bingo," Tonk-Croes said.

I know after this run we will be elite..so that would be great news...as far as RCL they do offer cocktail hour for it for suite guests and Diamond members At least they did on the Mariner..(i lost Carmen every night between 5 and 7 ) Joey - as of Sept. 1st they are not allowing Diamond members to use the lounge any longer. Lots of people really upset as they took this benefit away as well as a few others for Diamond members. just suites and Diamond Plus? or just suites?? or ??

Carnival Corporation & plc reported net income of $264 million, or $0.33 diluted EPS, on revenues of $2.9 billion for its second quarter ended May 31, 2009. Net income for the second quarter of 2008 was $390 million, or $0.49 diluted EPS, on revenues of $3.4 billion.Carnival Corporation & plc Chairman and CEO Micky Arison indicated that operating results in the second quarter were better than the company's March guidance due primarily to lower than expected net cruise costs and better than expected pricing on close-in bookings. This was partially offset by higher fuel prices and the impact from disruptions of its Mexican cruises in response to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations against non-essential travel to Mexico which reduced second quarter earnings by approximately $0.03 per share.

- Barbados and Grenada refused this week to allow passengers to leave a Spanish cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd because of fears of an H1N1 flu outbreak, authorities and shipping sources said on Wednesday. They added the moves were precautionary and that Grenadian and Barbadian authorities had no laboratory confirmation anyone on board was suffering from the H1N1 swine flu strain, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization last week. Many of the small island states in the eastern Caribbean depend on cruise ship arrivals as an important source of foreign exchange for their vulnerable economies. On Monday, the Ocean Dream operated by Pullmantur Cruises docked in Grenada, but no one was permitted to leave the ship because of reports several people on board had flu-like symptoms, a spokesman for Grenada's Health Ministry said. The cruise liner's next destination was Barbados on Tuesday, but the ship was not allowed to berth by Barbadian authorities because of the reports of the flu-like symptoms among its occupants, shipping agents in Bridgetown said. Ocean Dream, which can carry more than 1,000 passengers, subsequently sailed for Margarita Island on Venezuela's Caribbean coast. Miami-based Royal Caribbean, which owns Pullmantur, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Grenadian Health Ministry spokesman Keville Frederick told Reuters that while "quite a significant number" of those on board the liner had flu-like symptoms, it was impossible to know if anyone had H1N1 flu without conducting laboratory tests. "What we did was, keeping with protocol, to err on the side of caution. We decided that the passengers should not be allowed to disembark," Frederick added. A number of Caribbean states have reported confirmed cases of the H1N1 swine flu. Royal Caribbean Chief Executive Richard Fain said last week the flu outbreak had "a short, but highly disruptive impact to our operations," although he added vessels were returning to their original itineraries. The launch of a Pullmantur cruise targeting Mexican nationals, the Pacific Dream, had to be canceled because of the H1N1 outbreak in Mexico, the epicenter of the pandemic. are subject to an Editorial Handbook which requires fair presentation and disclosure of relevant interests. doLoginMenu(); doWeatherFrame(); if (typeof(window.raptAs) != 'undefined' && raptAs.length > 0) { _org="Reuters"; Rapt_Track("z=reuters.com.dart/printerfriendly_G3,as=" + raptAs); } var _tag=new WebTrends();_tag.dcsGetId();setModuleImpressionTracking();_tag.dcsCollect();dscQ uantcast(_tag);
