  1. The wife and I are having a debate over two cruises. We are discussing the RCI Rhapsody and The Carnival Conquest. OCT 1 Rhapsody goes to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Caymans, and Cozumel. OCT 1 Conquest goes to Montege Bay, Jamaica, Grand Caymans, and Cozumel. Oct 8, Rhapsody goes to Key West, Grand Caymans, and Cozumel, Oct 8 Conquest repeats the Oct 1 trip. If we do Oct 8 on RCI it will be a repeat of last year ( not a bad deal). The Conquest will be a new ship to us. We have never been to either Montego Bay or Och Rios. I like the Buffet (Windjammer) on RCI better and she likes the formal dinning room on Carnival better. What I would like is some responses from the Crazies.
  2. I have been on Royal Caribbean (Rhapsody) and Carnival (Esctasy) both from Galveston. It's fairly easy to do. We are debating the Conquest in Oct or back to the Rhapsody. Either way I feel that it's a great cruise because I won,t be at work.
  3. We have only been on two lines and the service on both was very comendeble. I will tend to lean toward RCI though.
  4. Very nice review. I have wondered about the Sun as my sister had a varied experience and was ify at best about her cruise.
  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
  6. I have used the Crazies packing list on both of our cruises....very good. I also add wire ties, pliers (small) and wire cutters (also small). The power strip is a needed item. I useally pack too darn much but I guess my Boy Scout training is coming out ... "Be Prepared". Next time...Less clothes, more money, Travel light and keep it tight. Jim
  7. Thanks for an excellent review and travel log. Jim
  8. Depending on availability of vacation days, Oct 8,2006 is a good bet for our next cruise. It will be a repeat of this years. There are so many things to do on shore that a repeat will never be the same. BTW our Sunset cruise at Key West was cancelled due to rain., this will give us a chance to do it again.
  9. A cruise to nowhere is better than being at work.
  10. My 2 have been with the same TA. My sister uses an online agency for her last three cruises. I think I'm gona try the online agency for the next cruise.
  11. If y'all don't mind let me say that as a blue collar worker that is used to the more simpler things in life, the cruise on RCI's Rhapsody was a very pleasant adventure. I have read all kinds of reviews that knock cruise ships from every cruise line. I guess you get out what you put into it. I can say I have cruised on Carnival and RCI and have enjoyed both. If this class of ship doesn't meet expectations, then one needs to step up in ship grade to the Marinier class or the Cunard line type of ship. I guess what I'm saying is don't book at a Holiday Inn expecting a Ritz Carlton. I, We, my wife and I had a wonderful time and would go again in a heatbeat. RCI, according to some reviews and some I talked to aboard, has slipped in quality due to cutbacks and bottom line figures that the corporate bean counters look at, but in my opinion...it was not that evident. Thanks for reading The old Texas Redneck Jim
  12. Cruise review has been submitted.
  13. We just returned from a fabulous cruise aboard the Rhapsody. As I get time I will post a review and if there is enough room a short travel log.
  14. Thanks for the send off....We'll be driving to Galveston Sat morn, spending the night and boarding Sunday afternoon... Thanks again Jim
  15. The best cabin is one on a cruise ship. The ones at home suck LOL.
  16. We'll be there next week (Dec 9). I'll try to post some pics if I'm smart enough.

  19.       I'm worse than the DW about taking too much junk. I'll wind up with 4 or 5 pairs of shoes, 2 or 3 pairs of slacks, a couple of pairs of dockers, Jeans and about 10 or more shirts, plus shorts. I can never decide what I want till the time to wear it, and then its a compromise. I like to be comfortable but also want to blend in (It's hard for and old redneck to blend in) and not be one of those "What the hell is he wearing" type of people, LOL. It,s a good thing we don't fly or I couldn't afford the cruise after the airline surcharge...hehehe. JIm
