  1. On our last cruise, one party brought enough stuff to set up a nice bar, several different bottles, mixers, glasses, including a blender. Hmmm...I'm on vacation and that just seems like too much trouble to just save a few bucks. I don't drink that much, but I do like a good highball after dinner, and a nice rum type drink now and then. Jim
  2. I wish at the time I was old enough to remember more than I have, but we sailed from New York to LaHarve, France to Southampton, England and 3 weeks later from Southampton back to New York. Also had a train ride fron Waco, Texas to New York and back. That was quite and experience for an 11 year old. Joey and David...Have a great time. Jim
  3. I may have mis-stated my first statement. I talked to my TA (a one man agency at this time) and after he told me he was doing the business by himself, I began to have a few "IF's". He has been an excellent TA. He is getting up in years, and since he has no help, retirement could be iminate. I'l have to talk to him some and try to detirmine his future. The question was an "IF" and I'm hoping a rebook isn't necessary as we have a hump balcony on the cruise in question. Thanks again Jim
  4. How would one go about changing TA's for an upcoming cruise. This cruise has a down payment made and is still a year away. I would rather not change, but I have a feeling that my TA may be gone before final payment time. I'm just trying to protect my cabin and down payment. Thanks
  5. Thanks for dancing with me.
  6. Ecstasy documents are here....we also recieved an upgrade to an oceanview on top of a price reduction several weeks ago.....Realality is setting in...now I have to consider packing.
  7. Then why on the Carnival Spirit are you allowed to buy from the onboard duty free store & take to your room, Johnny Walker Blue (approx.$135/L)??? As this was the case on my 2/27/07 trip. I'm sure you need to foward this question to Carnival as I only posted their online policy. Mebert, We also took sodas and water on board but this was on RCCL and not Carnival. We are going to try on Carnival next month.
  8. Here is Carnival's policy....not only alcohol but also other beverages. From their website. Can I Bring Liquor On Board? A liquor and beverage consumption policy was created in order for Carnival to be able to control the liquor consumption of minors and the quantities consumed that lead to the disruptive behavior of others on board. Liquor and Beverage Policy Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages onboard. However, guests (21 years and older only) may bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room or a $14 corkage fee per bottle in the Supper Club. Any additional quantity of wine/champagne or any alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be confiscated and discarded without compensation. Guests may purchase a variety of beverages on board the ship. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship’s gift shops or in ports of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage.
  9. RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas Docked in Ocho Rios, Jamaica
  10. We are really going to enjoy the ship to ourselves.
  11. Contact Dona (larson3cd) as they did that last year.

  13. Well I guess that I may have stepped on someones toes. May I just say ADIOS.
  14. jacketwatch; I'm a site administrator on a amatuer radio forum.
  15. Well here goes,.... We've been on Rhapsody for both the Key West, and Ocho Rios itineraries and liked the Ocho Rios better due to the two days at sea. Don't get me wrong, both were great. The Rhapsody is one of the friendlist ships afloat. We've never been on the Conquest, although my sister has and prefers the Rhapsody. Personal preference I'm sure.
  16. I'm sure someone has been there since we were there, but in Oct 06, both the Conquest and Rhapsody docked. The Conquest was at the downtown pier and the Rhapsody was at the International pier. It appeared the work was underway on the International pier to return it to the former status, and barges were stationed at the Puerto Maya pier to begin work. I hope this helps. The Conquest docked downtown, taken from International pier. The International Pier (A) The International Pier (B)
  17. Tch Tch Tch .... I thought I left this childish behaviour at work...guess not. Most people are opinionated to some extent and to push this opinion on others creates hate and dicontent. I've had bad experiences, I have had really good experiences. I've been shafted by corporate both in employement as well as customer relations. Neither leaves a good taste in your mouth. I've also had some really good life experiences and have met some really good people on cruises...in most part a lot nicer than the customers I put with for the other 50 weeks a year. I'm also a site admistrator on another forum and if this had gone this far on the other place it would have been locked down or removed. Now I'm gona shout. LETS ALL HOLD HANDS AND BE FRIENDS
  18. Well here is an answer I recieved off of another forum. I'm not a TA, but I've got some info. I've not heard anything about Corpus Christ hosting a ship, but that would be a possibility since there was a naval facility across the bay at Ingleside which has now been shut down. I'm actually about 25 miles from Galveston and less than 10 from the new Houston Bayport. I attended a Chamber of Commerce luncheon last week which featured a guest speaker from the Houston Bayport operation. In fact, she is formerly with Royal Caribbean and is now the the person with the new port who is doing the negotiating with the cruiselines. This port will be a totally different animal than Galveston. Basically she said the goal is to make Houston the new Miami. They have 140 acres and are going to have 3 cruise terminals (yes, starting off with one in April 2008, then expanding to three). The number 2 and 3 berths will be reserved for specific ships like Project Genesis which will hold 10,000 pax. (not that she said that ship is contracted, just using it as an example). There will be a "retail" area at the port which will include hotels, restaurants, even themeparks, etc, so that they can offer "quality" pre- and post-cruise packages. She indicated that this port will host ships with clients who will have a "higher per diem spending", and although when asked which lines, she said she couldn't say because she was still in negotiations, but she did mention Disney several times, especially in regard to the themepark. Of course, Tilman Fertitta isn't out of the picture, either. 35% of the retail area is reserved for small business. She is working on unique "send offs" for each different cruise line to make it really fun to depart from Houston. There will be 800-1000 (non-covered) parking spaces, but they will be looking to the hotels in the retail area to provide most of the parking (covered) and shuttles. They are also looking into things such as a water taxi to the Kemah Boardwalk, a trolley system, etc. She said that the port will have totally separate embarkation and debarkation areas, so we won't have the traffic nightmare we have at Galveston with everybody coming and going at the same time. She gave us the following stats on Texas cruise passengers: 2005 - 531,000 2006 - 635,000 2007 - projected 655,000 2008 - projected 760,000 2009 - projected 935,000 (Houston only) 2010 - projected 1,125,000 (Houston only) (Miami 1,771,000 but I don't know if that is current or projected for 2010) Those are all the notes I took, but if you have any questions, I'll try to answer them. I think this pretty much covers everything she said, though.
  19. I understand redeployment of ships but RCCL has abandoned Galveston from the end of Aug until the end of Dec with NO ships sailing from there at all. Voyager is only scheduled 4 months with no plans for other short or long cruise ships.
  20. I know RCCL is leaving Galveeston at the end of Aug with the exception of the Voyager from Dec thru April 08. Does anyone know if Carnival as well as the other few lines that are sailing from Galveston are leaving also? I have heard that Corpus Christy will be supporting a cruise line in the near future... Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks
  21. You may pay more on board or on line thru the cruise company, But the way I feel is if anything goes astray, as bus breaking down etc, then the ship will wait,. JMHO.
  22. Looks like Norwegian has no class with the Rosie as a Godmother.
