We are also very interested to cruise to Cuba and actually would prefer to do it now before it gets so "commercialized" - it's not long after the US$$$$'s start flowing in to these islands before the Diamonds International and the likes will pop up everywhere. The only deterrent for me right now is the $70 visa that Americans have to buy.

Guests bringing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages onboard are now required to do so in a carry-on or hand luggage, rather than in a checked bag. The cruise line announced that guests will be able to bring small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages in a carry-on or hand luggage on board only on boarding day. Checking in non-alcoholic beverages will no longer be permitted. Specifically, non-alcoholic beverages brought onboard may not exceed 12 standard (17 oz) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom. Distilled water or specialized beverages such as, milk for medical purposes, dietary or infant use, are permitted. Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board any cruise ship, with the exception of being able to bring two bottles of wine per stateroom.

Thank you for your honest review - it has put my mind to rest that I am on the right track by not wanting to cruise with NCL. Too many negatives and this is whati have repeatedly heard. Glad you had a grea time though, nothing beats being able to take a cruise one hour from home!

Oh my goodness! Yes all I could think of were the poor animals ...... so glad most were rescued in time.

Bon Voyage Andi - I too am super excited to hear about your river cruise and see pictures. Please post pics of the ship, I would love to see what it looks like. I have only seen them docked in Amsterdam.
