  1. Thanks Joey, we never watch the channel, but after I read your post, I did a search...the DVR is set to record it tomorrow morning...
  2. I voted yes. We have been to Ocho Rios several times and it was "okay", but it has been 8 yrs. or so since we were last there. Last year, we docked in Montego Bay. We got on a catamarran right next to the ship and it took us on a snorkeling excursion. We were hounded the whole time we were on it by the workers, selling jewelry and foot massages. After snorkeling, they took us over to Margaritaville. We entered thru the back (ocean side) and Bev and I went in to buy t-shirts. Greg and Jud went out the front door to smoke a cigar and they said that they were asked at least 10 times if they wanted to buy drugs. Thy said a policeman was standing right there and watching and never said a word. Then the boat took us back to the ship. We went into the shops right there at the pier and it was awful - the people would follow you from shop to shop and wait outside for you. After about 10-15 minutes, Jud said he wanted to return to the ship as he was very uncomfortable. We will not do another cruise that has Jamaica as a port....
  3. I have never had the DOD on a cruise - I am a creature of habit and tend to shy away from trying new things, so I always stick with my margarita's. I rarely have a drink at all during the day on a cruise. Ocassionally, if it is a sea day, I will get a margarita and head to our balcony with a good book, but normally, any drinks come after dinner.
  4. Jackie, congrats on the docs - makes it all seem more real. Sending you a doc dancer....
  5. Jackie, congrats on the docs - makes it all seem more real. Sending you a doc dancer....
  6. Carole, we did the Conquest last year - the Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Montego Bay route and are booked in Oct. on the itinerary you took - Key West, Freeport and Nassau. Too bad parents nowadays don't teach their children better manners - you see it everywhere you go now. When our kids were young, and we were out in public, they were never allowed to run around and disturb other people!!!
  7. Jason and Cheryl, thanks for all you do to keep our community here running. I missed being here, but knew that you would have us back online as soon as you could!!!
  8. This time next week, you will be out of the cold - I assume you are flying in the day before???
  9. I didn't even realize it was time for you to set sail AGAIN....hope you and Howie have a great cruise!!!
  10. Dancin' with ya'. Won't be long and you can leave the cold and head for a tropical climate and beaches!!!
  11. Deb, if you are looking for elegance, than Carnival may not be to your liking, but if you are looking for a wonderful cruise at a reasonable price, then you are booked on the right line. We have an aft wrap balcony (balcony runs along the side of the ship and then turns and goes across the back also) suite which has a seperate sitting room, bedroom, bath w/ jacuzzi tub and double sinks, and a walk in closet, on our cruise which is next January and we paid $1500 PP for 8 days. I don't think you could touch that on any of the other lines. I have been to many 5 star restaurants and have never received the attention to service there that we receive in the dining room on every Carnival ship we have ever sailed. I have thought about trying out other lines, but as Joey said in a different thread - if it ain't broke....
  12. Larry, congrats on the SDM status. Wishing you a wonderful cruise....
  13. Chuck, wishing you the best cruise ever. Hope you and Bobbie have a wonderful time.
  14. On our past few cruises on Carnival, I have seen security randomly shaking the water bottles to see if any bubbles form, so I would try the sprite bottles over the water bottles. Soda is supposed to bubble...
  15. Deb, he can buy it in port and then, if they take it, they wll return it to your cabin at the end of the cruise. We did buy some rum in the gift shop onboard because it was a great price, and much to my surprise, after I paid for it, she bagged it up and handed it to me. I didn't argue - just took it back to the cabin and added a little flavoring to my coke...
  16. I would go for it. I hate flying, but I take the Xanax that the dr. gives me for flying and I do drink along the way and I am fine. My dr. said she can get me into a therapy group that deals with fear of flying so I am thinking that in the next few months, I am going to do that. I love Europe and I think you and Howie should definitely go for it if you can swing it. If you go, you sail on my birthday so raise a glass for me...
  17. I think that Tmayor is wanting to return their rental car before leaving on the ship, instead of parking it. At least that is the way I read it, but I have been known to be wrong...
  18. Tmayor - I checked online and it appears that Hertz has a location right at the cruise terminal in Galveston. I am sure that if you contact Hertz, they can tell you whether you can check the car in at that location, even though you are picking it up in Houston. Hertz Car Rental 409-741-3595, 800-654-3131 2502 Harborside Dr (Cruise Terminal 1) Galveston, Texas 77550
  19. The cruise terminal is located in the downtown area of Galveston, so not sure what car rental companies would be nearby. You may check the port - I have seen a few who did have car rental return. Also, if you are spending the night in Galveston, you may check and see if your hotel has a shuttle to the port - they might be able to tell you where the nearest rental return location for you would be also so you could return it and then take their shuttle to the ship...
  20. I have sailed from the port but not on RCCL. What specific questions do they want to know about the port. There are long lines but they move quickly. After we disembarked, the luggage collection was somewhat chaotic and disorganized. We looked all over for one of my bags and i was getting really upset becaue it was the bag that I had put all the souvenir gifts in. After a while, they discovered that they had not put all the bags out and brought out several more racks of them. I think that part could be much better handled....
  21. How sad. Again, I do not see how people just fall overboard and at that age, it would be difficult to climb on the railing, I would think.
  22. I'm a planner, so I immediately start making lists. I do research online of the ports we will be visiting. I also check out hotels in the city of embarkation and make a reservation there.
  23. I am like Ed - to me, the whole cruise experience begins when we leave home, if we are driving to the port. I love car trips with Greg, so the day and a half it takes to get to Galveston, is an adventure. If we are flying, it doesn't begin until I get off the plane because I HATE flying. I am sure for Greg, it would be when we actually got to the port, since he has to do the driving to get there.
  24. That really peaks my interest. Looking forward to the review....
  25. Keith, as always, I enjoyed looking at your photos. I started to leave a comment over there but they said I had to register for an acct. and I don't need another password and user ID to remember. It looks like you all have a wonderful time. I just love the pics of you and your friend in your "rasta" hats. I don't think I could ever get Greg to wear one...
