    We always have the same stateroom - category 8, balcony cabin. We only sail on Carnival and they all look the same to me, same size cabin and bathroom. I also always look at the deck plan and pay the extra $100 to pick our cabin - one that is almost exactly mid-ship, to diminish any movement.

    I guess we get such good deals on Carnival because we book a year in advance and don't travel during high season - we always go in the fall. We have a balcony stateroom on the Conquest in Nov., and we paid just a bit less than $800 per person including all taxes and port charges. I hope you find a really good deal - cruising really is an amazing experieince.

    LaurenLou, have you called Carnival? They do have 7 night cruises sailing from Galveston. The Conquest sails from there. If you call Carnival directly, you may get a better rate with the military discount than you can find for them online. The Conquest goes to the same ports as you mentioned the Royal Caribbean cruise does. We are booked on her in Nov.

    Chuck you are so right - we always book about a year in advance and have a balcony cabin on Deck #8 (Verandah deck) for less than $800 a person

    Hello and welcome. I have no personal experience with timeshare travel, but my in-laws have had a timeshare with Fairfield Resorts for a long time and I know that somehow they have been able to use their points on cruises before. Have you checked with Interval International to see if they do offer this opportunity?
