Sharon, so glad you found us here. Wow, your first cruise - how exciting. You will be hooked on day 1!!! I cannot ride backwards on a tender into shore, bus or train as I get really nauseated, but I have never felt even an inkling of it onboard a ship. I think John give you some excellent advice as to starting it the day before you cruise - that way you will also know if you are going to have any adverse reaction to it, and it will be in your system before you set sail. Looking forward to hearing your impressions once you return.

I am sorry you had some disappointments on your cruise. I have never sailed on anything but Carnival. Hopefully your next criusie will be wonderful. After reading your post, I think I will steer clear of the Costa Magica...

FrostyBoy, it hasn't changed any of our plans to continue cruising - although I will admit that when that ship listed greatly some months ago, I did think about what would happen if you were sitting on the balcony and it happened - I guess if the list was great enough, you could just fly over the railing. Like I said, I thought about it, but not enough to change my plans...

Jacketwatch, if you had anything with metal in your pockets, I would think it would set off the detectors. I don't think I would chance bringing it back onboard from in port. We were on one cruise, where the security guards were shaking the bottles of water brought back on the ship - I guess maybe alcohol will bubble or something. I would be more apt to pack a bottle in my luggage upon embarkation than to try to sneak one onboard later...

I don't really remember anything about Freeport - it has been quite a few years since we sailed there. We took a shuttle into Port Lucia and shopped there. As many Carnival fans as we have here, I am sure someone can give you some info. Won't be long now before you sail off into the sunset!!!
