  8. Isn't it odd that there have been 2 barge/ship collusions, one right after the other? Do you think it is more common than we think because we just don't normally hear about it?
  9. Mebert, congrats on the booking. At least when the next cruise ends, you will still have something to look forward to.
  10. Rose, congrats on the booking. Details please??? I know what you mean about the tuition payments. Our son is working on his masters so we have been paying college tuition for the last 6 yrs. It will be really nice when that expense goes away...
  11. Denna, like some others here, we are loyal Carnival guests. We started with them back when the kids were young teen-agers and it looked like they had lots of programs for them. The travel agent I was talking to at the time said Carnvial would be the best value for our money, so I booked it. That was 12 yrs. ago and the kids are grown and no longer cruise with us, but we have always loved Carnival so stuck with them. Our best friends are sailing with us on our next cruise. This will be their 2nd cruise. Their first was on Royal Caribbean and they said they wanted to go with a different line so that worked out great for us. I am sure you will have a great time no matter what line you choose.

  19. Hi Lisa - Germany is one of the prettiest places we have ever been. We found it to be so clean. I first thought of Paris because of the Metro system, but there would be numerous stairs involved for your son, and Americans are not the favorite people of the French and I really felt that last time we were there. We haven't been to any of the 3 places you mentioned, so I can't help you there, but I am sure someone here can. Wherever you decide, hope you have a wonderful trip.
  20. Gogetter, may all your days at sea be smooth and filled with sun and fun and may all your days in port be adventurous. Anchor aweigh……
  21. I was pick-pocketed at Charles De Gualle airport in Paris. When we got to Customs, we were being herded thru like cattle, and when we got outside the airport to catch a bus to the train station (flew to Paris and then took the train to Touloise) I looked down, and my fanny pack was open and all the money taken. Luckily, they did not take my drivers license or credit cards and Greg had my passport - they just took all my cash, but I only had about $25 on me. We had done a money exchange at the airport in Chicago and Greg was carrying all the Euros. I never even felt anyone get into my fanny pack...
  22. Sept., I have been on the Imagination - in fact all of my cruises have been on Carnival. The recommended tips will be added to your Sail & Sign card, which is what you use to buy anything on board the ship, as a room key and also as your pass to reboard the ship in ports. If you want to change the amount that is added in the way of tips, you have to go to the Purser's desk and have it adjusted. You asked about changing rooms - I am not sure of the answer to that, I think Carnival would answer you honestly if you called and asked them. It would be better to book 2 in each room, rather than 1 in 1 room and 3 in another, because the person who is booked in at a single is going to pay a premium price, as the rates are based on 2 to a room and she may have to pay for 2 people for her cabin. Several of us here use the same trip planner at Carnival, Jennifer Martins. If you are interested in talking to her, you can PM me and I will give you her number.
  23. The only time we have ever had anything taken was when a candle we had in the cabin was gone - but there was a note from the room steward that it was taken as candles present a fire hazard onboard and we could reclaim it at the purser's desk at the end of the cruise, but it certainly wasn't worth messing with. All valuables are always kept in the safe in the cabin.
