  1. Like Skipper, we normally pass on them. We went to a couple, some years ago, and they were just too crowded, with nowhere to sit. Now, everytime, we get the invitation under the door, we think about it for about 30 seconds and then say "nah". Will be passing it up on the upcoming cruise also as we are traveling with friends who have never been on Carnival so will not be invited. We have only been on Carnival, so I don't know if other lines have them also, but I would imagine they do.
  2. AgentJoey, I have been wondering where you went off to.........
  3. I bring back lots of wonderful memories and usually a T-shirt from every port. If there is a Harley Davidson dealer there, I get a shirt from there for my sons.
  4. Jacketwatch, our last cruise which, was on the Destiny, they had a great deal on Bacardi Rum. I bought some and I was so surprised when I went to check out - I assumed they would take it and deliver it to me on the last night of the cruise, but shey didn't - shey stuck it in a bag and handed it to me. I didn't question it, and had a few nights of having rum and coke on the balcony. I assume maybe it was a new employee who wasn't familiar with their normal practices, but wasn't going to point it out to her...
  5. All 10 of our cruises have been booked thru Cruises Only, and we have used the same agent for the last 7. I actually talked to him about booking this one, but Maria/Teacp (you'll "meet" her soon, she was cruising last week and I don't think they are home yet) recommended her agent at Carnival. As we always sail Carnival, I decided to call her. She is just the sweetest thing and has bent over backwards getting us upgrades and discounts. From now on, I will book directly thru Carnival. We do have a TA here on the forum, and I hear he is quite wonderful...
  6. Sunbeam, congrats on the retirement. I retired 2 yrs. ago, when I turned 47. I love it....wish I had done it years sooner!!!!

  8. Mercedes, hope you have a wonderful cruise. If I recall correctly, this is a birthday cruise - so happy birthday. If I am wrong about that, ignore the birthday wishes....

  13. I agree about always arriving in the departure city the day before, if at all possible. I posted this in another thread recently, but wil abbreviate it here - we were sailing from San Juan at 10:00 - we booked a flight that was schedule to land about 2:30, which we felt was more than enough time. Due to the flight being delayed numerous times, we did not land until after 9:00 and had been told we could board no later than 9:30. It was a race, literally, with cabbie driving like he was at the Indy 500 in order to get that extra tip hubby offered if we made it in time. It was way too much stress. That was the first time we ever flew in on sailing day, and will be the last.
  14. Congrats on the new booling Cheryl. Wow, I can't believe you aren't going Carnival......
  15. I always buy something (okay, several things) for the grandson. I used to get a magnet from every place we traveled and from every ship, but stopped that several years ago. I was out in the backyard one time and looked into the house thru the patio doors and realized how junky the fridge looked completely covered with magnets, so I took them all down and stopped buying them. I can always find plenty of things to buy from the ship's stores though....
