  1. Byron, that just gives us more time to doc dance with ya'....
  2. We have requested 1st seating on our 10 previous cruises, and did so with this one that I booked 15 months in advance. I emailed our cruise agent at Carnival, and asked her what our chances were, and she emailed me back that it was guaranteed. I do not know if we have ever been on a list, have never been informed of such. I hope you get the seating you requested. Personally, I cannot eat as late as the 2nd seating - plays heck with my acid reflux when I try to sleep!!!!

  5. Stephen. it woildn't hurt to ask your travel agent for an upgrade. Our first 2 cruises were the onlyones we did not reeive an upgrade on and a few of the ones we got came from me requesting it...

  11. I thoroughly enjoyed your post and look forward to reading the accounting of your first cruise. You have a way of telling a story, that makes one feel like they are right there, experiencing it along with you...

  16. Elva, we have a cruise coming up in 11 months. We always book at least a year out - get really good rates that way. As far as what happens if you find a cheaper rate - we normally book thru Cruises Only and if we had found a cheaper rate, that would have just been too bad for us. However, this cruise, for the first time, we booked directly thru Carnival. As a rule, we would have paid it off already but Carnival said if we found any promotions or cheaper prices, they would honor that, so we are waiting till the last minute to pay it off. I am afraid that if I pay it off and then find a better deal, we won't be able to get a refund. We have already gotten one price reduction because I found a "better deal" out there. Our friends that are sailing with us said they are hoping we get to the point where Carnival pays us to go...don't think that will happen!!!
  17. I figured if Joey thought it was okay, I was game...didn't give an email address either though.

  19. The only time we have flown Southwest was about 18 yrs. ago. We were going to fly from Dallas to Disney World later that summer, and the kids had never flown, so we really wanted to "introduce" them to it on a much shorter flight, so we flew from Dallas to Tulsa to visit family. It was an hr. long flight and I don't really remember much about it. I just couldn't get past them telling me that this trip, I would have to buy 2 tickets each way. We would have had to leave Denver at 6:00 in the morning and not arrive in Lubbock until a little past 4:00. As Lubbock is not a big airport, we do still have to fly to Dallas and change to a smaller plane with American, but we leave here at 8:30 and arrive in Lubbock at 2:00. Of course, part of the time difference was sitting on the ground in Kansas City for 3 hrs. and would have had to do the same on the way home. It is about a 500 mile trip for us, so we could have driven it in less time than Southwest could have gotten us there. And Southwes was going to cost us more...
  20. I recently booked flights for my family to Lubbock, TX. I was going to go with Southwest, but they told me that anything out of Denver via their airline, unless it was to Phoenix or Vegas, would have to go thru Kansas City, then to Dallas, then to Lubbock. As they don't fly directly to Lubbock from here, it would require 2 tickets, one to Dallas and then one to Lubbock. I checked Travelocity, CheapTickets, Orbitz and Continental's website. The cheapest I could find for 4 tickets was $1800. I decided to check American Airline's website, even though their flights on the travel websites was pretty high, and I discovered that the fares on their site were much cheaper than the discount sites listed. I got each ticket for $274 round trip.
  21. I wouldn't go without Greg. We are just never apart. I went on a weekend shopping trip to Dallas once with his mom and sister, and I hated it. All I could think about was that I wanted to be with him.
  22. I agree with Suzy. I used to get all hyped up about Valentine's Day and expected Greg to fork out big bucks, but as I have gotten older, it seems silly to me that some card company has picked a day that we should show our love for each other. In my opinion, we should make each and every day special. We do go out to dinner but the past 2 years, I have asked him to not get me any gifts. He still does flowers though. We do go all out on birthdays and anniversaries but Valentine's Day just seems to be the most commercialized in that it takes a Hallmark holiday and almost attempts to guilt you into responding in a big way.
  23. Maria, well, she may be looking into it now that she has gotten a few emails...
  24. I sen Jenn, my travel planner at Carnival, an email and asked her where my gift was....
