    We never took our kids out of school to go on vacation. Always thought it would be to hard on them to catch up when they got back, besides, it's beautiful in Florida in August!

    I treat cruise ads like all ads. By the time I realize it is a cruise ad its about over! Ad people turn the sound up, I turn the mind off!

    Was just reading the last few posts and it dawned on me. Do you know how much fun we are going to have on this cruise? Good friends, lots of laughs, wonderful stops, and a great ship. This cruise is coming 2 months before I retire so it is also my personal present to me for putting up with all the BS for 38 years!

    No to production shows. We go to the theater so much during the year we find these shows pretty lame!

    Jackie...Just kidding about McDonalds. Our oldest son worked there in high school. I made him get undressed outside the house because his clothes smelled so bad! Don't remember the last time I was there. We are with you, we like breakfast too. If we don't like the hotel food lets get together and go find breakfast! After all we will be on vacation!

    Have considered getting a tux but haven't done it yet. I take a dark suit on cruises. Ed, that salt air seems to be affecting all my clothes, even the ones I don't take on cruises!

    Joey...I had booked the Best Western Marina and heard such bad things about it I cancelled and booked the Holiday Inn which probably wast't much better. Last time we stayed at a Hampton Inn. Very please with the whole experience and would use it again the next time we sail from FLL. Jackie...Breakfast and you are happy! You are so easy to please! Is that breakfast in the hotel or the McDonalds across the street?

    The option of living on a cruise ship or asst living has one more advantage for the cruise ship. If you fall they will probably give you a free upgrade on the cabin!

    We were on the Conquest this March and had dinner at the super club one eveinng. I can not remember seeing any children there. In fact we have had dinner in supper clubs on 6 Carnival ships and I don't remember seeing any children. Usually dinner takes 2-1/2 to 3 hours so most kids would get bored.

    Each cruise we get better at not over packing. Last cruise we had three checked bags and each with a carry-on. Think we can get it down to two bags. Its a too many shoes things. Still working on the guilty party!

    MaryLou...We stayed at a Holiday Inn in FLL really close to Port Everglades. Expensive, no free shuttle, nosy, and I almost forgot, I would classify it as a dump! There are lots of hotels in FLL to choose from.

    We have made several jewerly purchases in St Thomas and St Martten. Like Ed we have had them appraised and all have appraised for well over what we paid for them.

    Count us in on the shuttle. We always fly into FLL. Joey...FYI, 38 years ago it took about 3 hours to drive from Miami to Key West. I would hope the roads have improved since then. Think it is about 150 miles from Miami.

    Next to traditional dining our favorite activity would be people watching and getting to know other people.

    Carnival Glory, Port Canaveral, last Sept. This was my Dad's first cruise. With him in a wheel chair they escorted us thru check in and took him clear to the ledo deck for lunch. We just tagged along and smiled!

    Joey...That is gorgeous weather by Florida standards! Jackie is right, it is much nicer in Nov than Sept. Just what you are used to! We always fly in a day early. Too many things can and have gone wrong to fly the same day from here to either coast.
