  1. That Silhouette looks like a beautiful ship. I hope you three have fun. (I'm assuming that you're taking that Crazie bear! )
  2. Oops. I hope he has a relaxing trip, and all that work he put in upgrading this site. Good job Jason.
  3. Agree with the handwashing. It's the only way to cleanse away any viruses, like NV. Anti-bacterial gel is great, but won't kill a virus.
  4. Sorry to hear that MaryLou. I know it must be very disappointing. Can you still arrange a different excursion?
  5. Brycyp, isn't it great having access to so many "travel agents" to help you out?!
  6. Have you ever been to St John? It also has some very nice beaches. You could take the ferry or book an excursion that would take you there. I know you said you weren't interested in excursions, but this one might be different.
  7. I like the new safety "standards." Common sense approaches that should have been international standards all along.
  8. Excellent review. You really had my imagination going. What a great itinerary.
  9. Good review Jim, but you don't say much about the ship. I saw it from the outside when we were parked next to it last year in St Kitts (I think). How was the decor? How were the public spaces? Was the ship easy to get around?
  10. That doesn't sound like a very fun cruise. Hope the sanitizing works for the next group!
  11. Sounds fun, Howard. We also like our sea days.
  12. Thanks Keith & Rita. I had not heard that term before. It's nice to be surprised in a good way.
  13. Congratulations Howard. What are your port stops?
  14. Wishing you good health and good weather for your upcoming cruise.
  15. Thanks for the review, Keith and Rita. Skipping your Christmas day open house reminded me of the Kranks. Sorry the ocean jostled you around , but I guess it does that occasionally. Just one question. Why was it called a "collector" cruise?
  16. Nice photos Keith and Rita. It looks like you had pleasant weather throughout your trip.
  17. Do you know if he retired, took another job offer, or was "let go"?
  18. Cheryl, thanks for sharing this story. I see this as good news, at last. An objective review of passenger safety, followed by common sense approaches to improve our safety in several areas. There's nothing on that list that I feel would encroach on my ability to have fun during my next cruise.
  19. "I don't know why it happened. I was a victim of my instincts." Captain Francesco Schettino. I guess everyone was a victim of his poor instincts. Hopefully when he gets done feeling sorry for himself, he'll have more time to figure out how this happened. I'm just glad that the ship didn't sink in the hour that it took to loop around in the deeper water and return to the reef, or there would have been far more deaths.
  20. I suspect that Captains are given much leeway without alot of monitoring. That is why the cruiselines should be very selective in who they place in command. But somehow, they gave a cruise ship to a man who was incapable of properly commanding anything bigger than a lifeboat.
  21. I hope that when the rescue operation is over, the investigation completed, judicial actions carried out, that the long term benefit will be improvement in the way that ships captains are chosen, evaluated, and re-evaluated to ensure a continued focus on passenger safety. I don't know what Costa (or any other cruiseline) has in place to select their captains, but clearly this guy was not fit for command. The recent release of communications between Captain Schettino and the Coast Guard are especially troubling.
