  1. Joey: I rented a tux on our Alaska cruise because it was cool enough to wear one without feeling uncomfortably warm. In the tropics, I'll wear a sport's coat and nice shirt.
  2. Joey, you will stand out as a man of distinction.
  3. No cruise for me. But my oldest son and wife are going on a week-long cruise aboard a sailing yacht in the Bahamas. It's affiliated with the Boy Scouts "Seabase." My younger son may go to Ireland, Wales, and England with the People to People student ambassador program. We'll attend the meeting in a couple weeks and then decide. We sent my older son to Australia through this program last year. I guess Heather and I will just hang out in Colorado.
  4. Jenn is right. We took the whole family into the encounter rather than try to split up. Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy the lagoon pool and the other things she mentioned, as a thunderstorm came in and we made a bee-line for the taxis. The park was beautiful, though.
  5. My paper says 4 dead in Haiti. Fay's a killer. Please keep on eye out.
  6. For Joan's sister, who lives in Sarasota, it's worse than that: right up the WEST side of Florida. So far, the sister is very calm about it. Can I claim that I was standing on my head? You're right, West is on the left side of the map.
  7. Ohhhh...right up the east side of Florida. Everyone gets wet. Please watch it carefully, those of you in the neighborhood.
  8. Here's one of my favorite wildlife shots. Okay, I wasn't on a cruise, but I was probably thinking about cruising.
  9. The Conquest organized one for their teenagers; but I've never tried to set one up.
  10. We always try to collect a Christmas ornament wherever we go. Our tree is a monument to all the places we've been, and we get to relive our memories as we hang each special ornament.
  11. so would the closet be Seattle, San Francisco, LA, some place else? Looks like Los Angeles is the closest at 832 miles. Galveston, where we cruised from last time, is 928. San Fran is 947. So, a days travel each way.
  12. For some reason, NONE of the cruiselines have seen fit to establish a port in Colorado. I'm not happy about it either.
  13. Andrea: The shoes I was referring to have a rubber sole, and a neoprene like material. You wear them like slippers. Heather was 6, and also short, but I don't know her height. I believe the excursion was just called the dolphin encounter. It did not involve swimming with the dolphins; just petting them, splashing them, kissing them on the mouth... The Park doesn't allow cameras, but they film the whole thing -- stills and video. Heather was the only person who got stung. Just her luck, I guess. She went on a Brownie campout this last weekend and got stung on the knee by a bee!
  14. I think next time, we'll make our decision based on which port we leave from. Being on Mountain Time, I would prefer late seating if sailing from the East Coast again; probably early seating of sailing the West Coast.
  15. I'd like to be the Captain, so I could drive the big boat.
  16. Joey, my BIGGEST pet peeve is this (and it has happened on every single cruise so far). At some point during the cruise, they dock the ship at the exact same place where we started and tell me I have to get off. Now that really pi$$es me off. Why should I have to get off? Why can't I go around the loop one more time. Waah...I don't wanna get off! Okay, I've regained my composure. What was the question?
  17. Heck no. Please don't tell anyone, Joey, but I sort of "cruise around". I'm not proud of it, but I'll jump into anybody's berth. If they're going my way, and the price is right...well, perhaps I'll just stop there.
  18. Not going on that one, but Bon Voyage. What's your port of debarkation and itinerary? Have fun!
  19. I have used them before, but I usually find it too hot to use the hot tub. I have a hot tub at my place in Breckenridge. I love sitting out on the deck on a moonless night looking at the stars and satellites flying by. It's also kind of fun to sit outside during the day when it's snowing and my hair freezes solid.
  20. Wow. That was so simple. Didn't have to answer 50 questions. Thanks, Jason, for arranging this. I am anxiously awaiting my first issue.
  21. I'd have to say dining staff; although cabin steward is a close second.
  22. I've been trying to sign up, but can't get through to this website. Anybody else able to access?
