  1. Yay - I am ready to book so I will fill out the form! But I do have a questions......so......I'm not quite sure how this upgrade on the promotion works. Are the prices that you quoted including the upgrade? Or if we sign up for BD cabin, we will get upgraded to a better one, or the price lowered to match a lower category?
  2. Good Morning! Thanks for posting the 3 For Free notice, Jan. Miranda - I'm so glad you are "in", and definitely the more the merrier, so thanks for sending the word out to your cruising friends. I do hope some will give us a try and join the website as well as this cruise! Jan - In your experience will this promotion draw takers in general? In other words, could good cabins go quickly?
  3. I'm hoping we can determine fairly soon if this sailing will be a "go" or not - Princess just announced their 3 For Free sale and this cruise is included! ?
  4. Great slideshow and good information. I am taking a 5-week life-long learning class on September/October called Gilded Lives: Fatal Voyage based on the book, about the rich and famous who were on that voyage. Should be interesting!
  5. Great review, Jan! Bermuda is one of my favorite destinations but if I decide to go with NCL, I think I will wait until school is back in session, lol! We took that same Famous Homes and Hideaways Tour when we were there the second time on RCI. That is a great tour. The sunset cruise sounds great; we did an evening Bermuda Triangle tour...a glass-bottomed boat out to the site of several shipwrecks. It was meant to be lighthearted spooky and it was! Thanks for such a thorough review.
  6. Thanks, Fellow Crazies! We are getting quit excited - sure hope we love river cruising, lol!
  7. Never sailed on the Star but also loved the Golden, which we took roundtrip LA to Hawaii. She will have a good home with P & O .
  8. More and more info is coming out about life onboard for the crew; this really is a moral dilemma, isn't it? Yes, for many, they make more money than they would at home, but that doesn't mean they should be treated inhumanely or expected to work beyond their physical and psychological limits. There seems to be a large number of them who do multiple contracts - are those the ones who have just "adjusted"? If we don't cruise...they lose their jobs? I guess I am thinking out loud. I have to admit it - I love cruising - and I think most of us on this board do. Ed and I are always thoughtful cruisers - we are never rude and always thankful for everything the crew does for us...but it is clear we need to do more....somehow...
  9. I'm sorry I didn't see this until just now but glad you found the link - a bit "overstepping" for Momma, I think...
  10. Yes - that is one disease that I dread! I got the vaccine the day I turned 60, which is the earliest they let you get it! I do hear that they have come out with a newer and more effective vaccine, but Medicare does not cover it so far.
  11. Great pics, Jan - especially the Dockyard at night...ahhh, memories! ?
  12. That's right - I had all three of those diseases as well, before the vaccines came out. That was when the doctor would make house calls. (boy, am I aging myself!) And the polio vaccine was a yearly shot.
  13. I just read that the Mother of Norwegian's CEO had some not-so-subtle words about her...that apparently the woman jumped? She included a few strong adjectives to describe her...
  14. The Royal is indeed a beautiful ship; we loved Alfredo's sit-down pizzeria (no extra charge) and of course, the ice cream shop! The bakery in the lido buffet was also excellent. Alfredo's was never overly crowded and great for either lunch or dinner. You get an individual appetizer/soup/salad and then an individual pizza and then dessert, and it was all really good! I can honestly say that the ship did not feel crowded. I did miss an aft pool and the balcony was a bit small, but hardly deal-breakers.
  15. I've looked at Crystal and found them to be very pricey, so then it would be 3 star cruise at a 5 star price? No thanks!
  16. I'm thinking she was sitting on the railing maybe? Will be waiting for any additional info the cameras might provide.
  17. I can make that work - we would miss Dave if he couldn't come! ? And to be honest....I like the prospect of warmer anyway!
  18. HI Sue, Welcome to CruiseCrazies!    I see your favorite ship is the Caribbean Princess.  Coincidentally, we are discussing a group cruise for Fall 2019 to Canada/New England on the Caribbean.  That is one Princess ship that I have not sailed yet so would love to hear why it is your favorite (and very glad to hear that it IS!)   Check out our group cruise page in the Social section of the Boards!

Mostly the size.  I went on the Royal in January and while it is a beautiful ship, there were things about it I didn't like mainly the lack of pools and balcony size.  Balconies are tiny unless you get one that juts out a bit.  We were on the Dolphin deck on the CB in June and I love the larger balcony, it also has more pools.  It was my 6th time on this ship. I'm going on the Grand in January so I may like that one even better since it is a bit smaller.  I don't like the trend to larger and larger ships.

Thanks for sharing, Sue!  I am not a big fan of the bigger ships either.  I loved Alfredo's, the ice cream parlor and the bakery in the buffet on the Royal, but agree that the balcony was tiny and no aft pool.  We were on the Grand many years ago and I remember liking it very much.  My favorite Princess ship so far is the Coral - we did the Canal on her as a CruiseCrazies group cruise this past April.  Hope you will join in some of our boards and be sure to list your upcoming cruise(s) on our roll call board!

  19. Happy Sailing, Kelly - be sure to come back and tell us how fabulous it was!
  20. Thanks, Shari! I will definitely post pictures IF I can figure out how to do it, lol!
  21. So maybe 9/14 would be the best compromise; maybe some color but not conflicting with your Viking cruise! That would be a "go" for us...
