  1. So how much notice did NCL give you that they were cancelling your cruise?
  2. Oh dear - well - welcome back! It is good that you can focus on that first week; glad that you had a good week and hope that you will feel better very soon!
  3. It is a balcony for us! We were spoiled with a really good balcony deal on our cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii and we'll never looked back, ha! Shari - I'm with you - I love to sit and just quietly watch the ocean.....OR......watch the craziness as people are hurrying back to the ship after a port call, lol! We have never booked into an inside cabin, but we slept the day away in an OV room so I can only imagine what would happen to us in an inside - we would miss the whole cruise!
  4. That sounds like a good pick, Jan - we would definitely be interested!
  5. We can be flexible although May is not as free a time for me as January/February.
  6. HI Jan, I prefer not to sail Carnival....others look good; how old is the Vision - what class is that?
  7. Thanks, Jan! We DID stay in Barcelona before the cruise and WOULD recommend the hotel. It is the Condes de Barcelona and is in the middle of the L'Eixample district. It was a great location for shopping, the Bari Gotic, Las Ramblas, and especially the Gaudi sites. In fact, we walked to La Sagrada Familia and had a great view of it that night from the rooftop bar and cafe. It is right across the street from La Padrera, another Gaudi building and one block from his houses. It has one of the top rated Michelin-starred restaurants in Barcelona which also served up a great breakfast buffet. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, especially the doorman! Yes - we would have loved another sea day....

  9. Thanks Everyone - our flight leaves in about 14 hours and we are so excited. I will be happy to tell you all about it when we return!
  10. Fabulous review, Jackie. I am looking at the 10-day Caribbean cruise next February....I just might have to get that one booked NOW!

  12. And might I suggest taking it all in from a sunset veranda cabin while cruising the Med as we will be doing on the Equinox this summer for our 40th anniversary, or a similar stateroom on your favorite cruise line! Can't wait!!
  13. We have sailed on Celebrity three times as well and have a med cruise booked on the Equinox for summer 2014. Comparing prices with Princess, Celebrity is coming in very competitively! I am pleased with the changes in the loyalty program. It doesn't affect us yet, but we look forward to reaching those levels!
  14. Ha - so you are very experienced in hiking over the lava rock in the heat! You definitely will do a lot of that in the Galapagos! As long as I could keep the sweat out of my eyes I didn't mind that it was 116 degrees with no shade - everything was just too fascinating to worry about a little heat, LOL!
  15. Afraid I can't help you with a camera lens....but it is definitely worth getting an underwater one if you snorkel and/or dive. We just had a disposable one since we don't do much underwater, but it did well - capturing manta rays, sea turtles - all kinds of creatures! Do take a good insect repellent and a hat. I NEVER wear hats.....ended up buying one on the ship - the sun can be relentless! I can't wait for you to take this trip just so you will come back and tell us all about it - I can relive it again!
  16. Congrats on booking the trip of a lifetime! We went on this cruise in February 2011 and it was everything I dreamed of and more. Celebrity was absolutely perfect in every way - there was not one thing I could have faulted or asked to be done better. Just savor every minute of it! And if you have any questions - I'm happy to answer from our experience.
  17. Thanks everyone - I'll report in when we return!
  18. Have a fabulous river cruise - can't wait to hear all about it!
  19. Thanks for the great review, Jan - it will be helpful when we sail on the Brilliane in February. I am Platinum status on both Royal and Princess but I agree that Princess has the edge in areas like food quality. We enjoy both lines but do have different expectations for each.
